Logical is Nonexistant Prt 2
Hello again.
After another whole heap of testing, cursing, fixing, more testing and more cursing we have a stable fix to the duping and logical nonexistance nightmare.
We are not completely bug free but where we are at, is a damn sight better than where we are without it.
Disclaimer
Stackable items have a special mark that makes them stackable. This accounts for most consumables and crafting componants. Unfortunately this little mark is what stops item stacks remerging with the new fix.
If a stack has been in a container that little mark changes so it will not merge with a stack that hasn't been in a container. Now before you all go oh noes not again the bug isnt quite as bad as last time.
Stacks that wont merge just need to be popped in and out of a container.
Once they have been in that container for just one second they will merge again forever.
This fix does not correct existing dupes. For those who have persistant items that just keep coming back please send me a PM with:
Chest location.
List of items needing removal.

Thanks for the Hard Work Madk@... You and the Dev team should get a round on the house somewhere. Just one quick question though...
When you say "Conatiner," is that just a P-Chest, etc., or does it include Bags and other "Conatiners" in a PC's inventory too?
Thanks Again...

She means a p-chest of some sort, not an inventory item. Basically, if you have something that won't stack with something else... throw them both in a chest for like 5 seconds, and they should stack after that.

Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Actually, throwing them into a bag also works.spool32 wrote:She means a p-chest of some sort, not an inventory item. Basically, if you have something that won't stack with something else... throw them both in a chest for like 5 seconds, and they should stack after that.

Have you checked if one may be marked stolen? If not, you can easily test it by heading to your friendly marketplace merchant and see if there's one of them he won't buy.Cromagnon wrote:Not to rain on the Kat-parade, but...
I found two (dropped, non-crafted) scrolls today that do not stack with my pre-existing stacks of the same, identical scrolls.
I put them in a bag. I put them in my chest. They still do not combine.
Any thoughts?

Just had a "Logical Nonexistance" occurance last night. One stack of Nemril's Brew was kept in one of my persistant chests for over 6 months, and another was something that was a monster "drop" a few months ago that I had kept in my magic bag of crafting supplies. I tried to combine them in my inventory and got the "Logical Nonexistance" message.
Is there any procedure to minimize the odds of this happening? I have a few stackables that I have had for up to a year in storage, and if there is a way to reduce the odds of them going "poof", that would be good.
And of course, thanks for all the work on this persistant bug. If you are ever in the Twin Cities, I would be glad to buy you guys a round for all the work put in to get this bug stomped!

When you say you tried to combine them, did both of the objects start in your inventory, or was one in a chest at the time? If the latter, then just click on objects to take them out of the chest rather than dragging them into your inventory. If the former, then that's a REALLY weird bug, and more detail is needed.David A Smith wrote:Just had a "Logical Nonexistance" occurance last night. i had been getting dupes of acid bottles in a chest in the FF townhouse in Mikona. I haad been thrpwong out the dupes; and keeping the correct nuber of what I should have had untill I had gotten some materials together to make arrows. After making the arrowa; I was left with 1 stack of 15 and 1 stack of 12 bottles on the table. When I unloaded materials from the table; the 2 stacks merged into one stack of 27. I set the 1 stack of 27 into the chest.
I know we had a reset on Mikona last night (Tues night; my time); and I checked the chest today. I found 71 stacks of 30 bottles of acid; 1 stack of 12 bottles and 1 stack of 15 bottles.
I threw out the 71 stacks; and tried to merge the other two stacks. They didn't merge.

I'm not sure what makes something stolen or not. Is this something that can be fixed, MadK@, or should I not bother with a bug report?MadK@ wrote:Danish is right, the only reason scrolls will not merge if there is a difference in the two and there is stoen and non stolen scrolls in the palette.

Sorry - I hadn't heard of the apparent splitting of stacks inside a chest before. That's why I mentioned it here. If it's part of the old duping - then I'll just use up the last 27 and that should be the end of things; right?

Jo'd, find any p-merchant with an appraisal desk. Put the items you want to merge in/on the desk. When the p-merchant refuses to buy whatever it is, the items will be returned stacked to your inventory.

Once they have been returned can you then split/stack as you want on your own at that point?Marleh wrote:Jo'd, find any p-merchant with an appraisal desk.
