I found one of the Manes in the Abyss drooped a talking owl feather, some of the others dropped gold

PrinceOfCrossbreeds wrote:Got more XP when doing a Solo run through North-Eastern T'Nanshi while playing with the kobolds but I got ALOT less loot. IG, I could get about Two dozens Cure Serious potions from said kobolds but all I got was some coins.

Then I decided to pay b-berg my respects and killed every NPC there and to my surprise, I looted a 'Golem Manual: Emerald' OFF a b-berg resident.
I took Del (level 34) around the NE too given that it is his most regular haunt and the area I am most familiar with.

XP: Contrary to PoC I found that I got less xp than previously. The main reason for this was that I was getting only 1xp for reavers and grunts, 0 xp for kobolds and 3 xp for chieftans and anhilators. Previously I would get 1-2xp for reavers and grunts, 1-2xp for kobolds and upto 4 xp for Anhilators. As kobolds make up half of the spawns in the area the difference was significant. I have a multiclass xp penalty so I am not sure if that affected things unduly. I would guess that I would make between 1/3 and 1/2 less xp from this new system compared to the current one in this area.

I noticed that you get a flat rate of xp for something regardless of the size of the enemy group. I am not sure whether or not the 1d4 style random xp was a good thing but I certainly understood and appreciated the previous system of having enemy group size included in the xp calculation, it seemed to make a lot of sense.

Loot: The Shaahesk and Kobold spawns used to provide an awful lot of potions of varying types. With the new system I found the same frequency of loot drops but probably 95% of them were straight gold. My guess is that I would make more gold from this system than the old one (most of the potions I collect at my level I would not use but sell in one form or other). The odd item that did drop was perhaps better than some of the random drops I saw before but these were generally infrequent.

The one thing that definitely worked was the class specific drops from mages and clerics. I definitely appreciated those.

Took Sunder around some different spots in the server.Gained 18 xp off a M'Chek sgt before he was killed y the mob of soldiers.
Took on Some bandits in NE M'Chek. Got 13 xp off a bandit chief before he was dropped by the half orc bandits.

Definetely more xp than I used to gain before with him. Was trying to see how the new xp system factors in characters with an xp penalty.
Have to try again with a group so I can live long enough toi get more accurate info, but an M'Chek Sgt and a bandit chief against a lvl 18 with a 20% xp penalty. Not sure if those numbers are considered high or not.

Perhaps we can get several characters with the xp penalty together and group up, see if the code is handling it properly.

For testing purposes; Has anyone hit the 7,000 xp cap in this test?

And if so, please detail party makeup, levels, etc. And please provide screen shots, or if you can not host, send them to tgracie@gmail.com and I will host them.

Failing this, is anyone free Wednesday? I am interested in hard numbers. We'll do it Mythbuster style.

Take 1 Avlis Legal party and hit a few dungeons on one day, and compare caps and level output.

Take 1 Epic and one Lowbie and tow through the warrens.

Take 1 Balls-to-the-Wall, EPIC partay; BW Standard Items and Powerbuilds.

And compare times it takes to get to the cap.

Any volunteers?

Sweet. We're looking at 000 GMT, Wednesday July 25.

For our US players;

That's 5pm Pacific
Or 6pm Mountain
Or 7pm Central
Or 8pm Eastern.

Bring booze, caffeine and grind music.

Come late. That's cool. We'll likely still be hammering away on it.

And if I don't see you there, aquasoup, I will be rather disappointed.

Just returned from a test in a high level group with a level 10 PC:
4 Fighter, 6 rogue.

I got 80 XP from each kill - but it should be 100 if it was maxed.
The cap was reached at about 5500 XP, not 7000

Did you introduce a dynamic or new parameters or is it a bug ?

Loot was nice, one dye was found by the group on a slaver.
But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."

Adding missing data on request:

Race: Elf
Time to hit cap (of about 5500 XP): 20-30 minutes (roughly)

Yorlik I did tell you the multiclass penalty was a known bug and would be fixed shortly.

Okay, Yorlic was a peach and knocked this one out for us!

With a 10th level Elf (6 Fighter/4 Rogue) he reached a cap of 5500 XP [which is a bug, and will be addressed] in roughly 20-30 minutes with 2 40th level epics.

Towing is effective..... but boring. :)

It takes half an hour to hit the weekly cap?

Something is wrong, eh?

Half an hour with two level 40's towing you, yes.

And I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't see a problem in curtailing this kind of behavior. That's best left for that 'other' thread, though.

The 40s get 0 XP so it's solely the lowbie who is showered in yellow text.
