Attcking combat dummies

Post by Bigdaddy037 » Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:40 am

Looking for help:
I am building an area, I imported the NPC Combat Dummies from the Avlis site (the ones that give you a point figure when you hit them).

The problem I have come across is this:
When I attack the dummie - the dummy hits back.

Kind of embarassing testing out the dummy, leaving the module to take care of the boys, and come back DEAD

Anybody else come across this? I did a search and found a very old Bug similar, but after talking with the person that answered that bug we coulnd't come up with the solution.

Anybody else come up with this while building?

I use placeables as combat dummies rather than creatures.

I use placeables as combat dummies rather than creatures.
I thought about that but for two things (unless I am mistaken, which is definately possible):
1. No points coming out of the placeable
2. One specific scenario is this:
At a combat training area, and there is a NPC attacking a dummy with a traner giving him hints/criticsim.
Would you be able to do that in this scenario?

Thanks for your quick replies, except for Arena Helerin, in which case I say
PFFT! :)

You still get points if it is a placeable, yes.

And yes, you would be able to do the scenario you listed. You'd have do a bit of scripting, though, to get the NPC to attack the dummy.

Can you shut off the creature AI when building?

IIRC there was a part of hte single player where there was an NPC attacking a dummy.. kind of annoying as he never stopped and you couldn't complete his quest.

Yeah, I remember that. One patch broke it, and then I think another one fixed it. Of course, at that point, I had already killed the guy out of frustration. ;)

Code: Select all

<Zebranky> (Also, that would piss SO many people off. ;)
<Nob> That's why it's such a great idea, Zeb.
