Wolfwielder (stolen from facebook)
ninja walks to the teleporter and jumps over to georgia looking for Wolfwielder. he approaches the interview booth and smiles
wolfwielder: Ninja what's going on man how's married life treating you?
ninja: Pretty good. My folks are visiting, and we are all going to the Bulls game tomorrow...Wolfielder, you have been a DM for a few years. Before we get into DM stuff, I'm sure everyone would like to know: What brought you to Avlis
wolfwielder: Bioware Wednesday, I got the email showcasing different worlds and after reading about all of them I picked Avlis That was just over 5 years ago.
editors note: more about generations and bioware wednesday here
ninja: It seems there was an influx of players because of Bioware Wednesday. I'm pre-BWW. What type of characters do you like to play?
wolfwielder: I have tried them all honestly, different classes, races you name it I probably tried it at least once.
ninja: You sound like NightHawk4. If there was an achievement for creating a small village of PCs, he would get it. Why did you decide to join the team as a DM?
wolfwielder: Well after about a year of playing I felt like getting back to behind the scenes stuff like I did in my PnP days. So I sat down filled out the app and poof became a DM, funny thing spool32 and I joined the team within a couple weeks of each other.
ninja: Wow. You guys are like pledge brothers joining Alpha Vega Lambda Iota Avlis together! What is your favorite plot that you have run as a DM, if you can talk about it?
wolfwielder: The Drahnul plot in Deglos. Not only was the plot fun for me to run with Papainhell but the brigade are a bunch of awesome players to DM for. I also got to give out some really cool rewards to folks not just items but character defining rewards.
ninja: Yeah. There are teh ph@t l00t rewards, but then the ones that really help characters grow. Both are valuable. How do you decide to run plots for players?
wolfwielder: Ooo good question. I always have ideas floating around in my head. Problem I run into sometimes though is how to get it going, once I do figure out how to get it started. Rest assured it will be as much fun for me as it is the players.
ninja: I hear ya. When I DMed, my ideas were sometimes larger than my capacity to see them through. It's a tough balance. Here's a fun question: what was your biggest 'oh shit' moment as a DM?
wolfwielder: Lol. I recently answered this on the boards the biggest "oh shit" moment was. OoG was having a meeting and my main PC was a member, so what I would is login the DM client and cookie everyone before I logged in as a player. Anyone that has an OoG character can testify to how long our meetings are. So anywho i hit my quickslot which I though was my 50 xp cookie but turned out to be DM Kill I quickslotted for a previous DM session. I didn't realize what I had done till the PC I was standing next to with my DM avatar let out their death scream. Needless to say after I fixed everything from everyones sudden death and kicking myself I did get a chuckle or two out of the whole situation.
ninja: I guess all the players were marked out of DM favor. Badoom cha. What is your favorite NPC to play and why?
wolfwielder: Actually my favorite NPC to play is one you came up with. Good ole Lefty, though now he has a brother Righty. And they took in a Hill giant and named him Big Righty, those are my favorites by far.
ninja: Hahaha. I didn't know about the giant. Lefty is fun cause you get to get characters drunk. Lefty's Zoob was one the funest thing ever. Glad he is still around with the brigade. What do you like about being on the team?
wolfwielder: Other than making Avlis fun for players, I like the working relationship the team has. We all might not agree on something, but we all want the players to have fun. We just have different methods and ideas, which eventually come together in one good idea.
ninja: True dat. What is the strangest thing you have ever seen as a DM?
wolfwielder: Well unlike Belasco I have found the occasional cyberers though I won't name names, you know to protect the innocent.
ninja: By definition, cyberers are not innocent

wolfwielder: Very true! LOL
ninja: What kind of advice would you give a player who is thinking about applying for the team?
wolfwielder: Know your lore and make sure your one shot and long running plot fit into the lore
ninja: You mean it's bad to have Darth Maul in the Mikonan Crypts?
wolfwielder: Yeah no Darth maul anywhere, no jedi sereg king of M'chek
ninja: Who was your mentor, and what kind of stuff did you learn from that person?
wolfwielder: I didn't really have a mentor when I joined the team. Everyone kind of helped me and I used to login to the DM client and stay in the immortal area for hours figuring my way around the DM client.
ninja: Yeah, I don't know if I had a mentor. Back then, the entire team took care of the noobie DM. Still, I like the fact that there is 1 person who will work with you while you get your chops. Switching gears for a bit, you brought your younger brother to Avlis. How has that worked out?
wolfwielder: He's had some growing pains and gotten smacked around a bit but here's the kicker. He deserved it though, he doesn't get special treatment from me cause he is my brother. If anything I'm harder on him cause he is my brother. But he took his lumps, and came out on the other end a better player
ninja: Hopefully we will see him behind the curtain when he has more free time. I know the answer to this, but I'm sure everyone would love to hear the story...How did you get the name Luscious?
wolfwielder: Austin meet at the ranch playing Apples to Apples with I think Lesli, krackq, and Belasco. It was my turn to judge and the descriptive word I drew was Luscious. So everyone put their card down. I started going through them and the second to last card that was laid down said "my body". Only thing I could do was laugh and just lay the card on the table. I think I got out that the card was the winner between laughs. And that is where I got the name Luscious.
ninja: Remind me to never play Apples-To-Apples with you

wolfwielder: 2 hours hmmm. As a DM find some random group and either send them on some kind of mission or interact with them as an NPC. As a player I actually chatting with IC friends as well as at chatting at the local watering hole.
ninja: If there was no Avlis, what game would you be playing?
wolfwielder: Civilization 5
ninja: Why Civ 5?
wolfwielder: The strategy behind that goes into your decisions, plus who doesn't like taking over the world, even if it is a virtual setting.
ninja: Last question...What is something about you that has nothing to do with Avlis that people would be interested to know?
wolfwielder: I hold 3 degrees: Associates in Culinary Arts, Associates in Network Security and Technology, Bachelors in Technology Management.
ninja: Nice! You are a triple nerd! Any final thoughts from you?
wolfwielder: Just one... If you know what I mean.
ninja: HEYO! Thanks for doing the interview wolfie, and we will see you in game...GAME ON!
wolfwielder: Thanks ninja this has been fun, can't wait to see who is going to be next.
