Ha! They have, no relation other than being gnolls, and running into eachother.

What brought you both to Avlis?

Uh. Doofus said something about a nwn server and I stopped by to check it out. Literally no clue how he ended up coming across it

I just looked at nwn scry for servers with an active pop
Then glanced over the website.

When did you start playing?
Ilikethecold
I think like 2-3 weeks ago now? Less than a month

Super fresh, that's impressive to get the accolades from other players so soon. Have you played Roleplay servers before this?

I've played on a couple here and there! Mostly on a couple of ones on NWN EE.

Oh yeah. I've played on tons of servers, from Arelith to some jank cyberpunk zombie survival server I forget the name of

Do you only play the gnolls or are you working on alts too?

Just the Gnoll for me, I've never been any good at juggling alts

Just the gnoll for now, server doesn't seem that good for playing a alt alongside a main from a newbie perspective.

I am an altaholic so I am in awe that people can play one only.
Doofus
Just gotta keep making achievable goals to keep your interest.

I'd love to do up a dwarf or something later on if I find the time though. Ghourr doesn't spend much time around cities, so it'd be cool to have a character that would be the complete opposite

Have you had a chance to hit up any of the DM events yet?

We actually got pulled into one in the first 15 minutes of playing, hah. It was 10/10

Our first day, as a level 1 barbs. Got pulled into a epic level dungeon.
Like, within.. Thirty minutes?

Most of the players here will try to keep you upright in those. Try but not always succeed.

We went in level 3 Gnolls, and left as like level 8 grizzled veterans. And they did an amazing job of keeping us alive

Despite the gnolls being gnolls, we only went to the dead realm once?

That's impressive!
I know it has been a short time but have you had the chance to meet any players who really stick out for you in terms of interactions with the gnolls or yourselves?

We met a avariel, that I forget the name of. She handed both our characters their motivations, and also was the first person to really engage in a long thought provoking conversation with them.(edited)

Man, literally everyone has been amazing to play with. There's a few that I end up seeing more often than others because of the time zones and all, but everyone Ghourrs interacted with has been baller. Tor, Fabello, Berry, Cherry, Taigo, Brandt, and that avariel (Thienna, maybe?) all get special mentions.

That's nice, it is hard to get that level of conversation in a big event so I am glad you've seen both aspects of the game.

Being that you are both new, you are in a unique position. I can ask you what you enjoy and there is no past experience to alter your answers.
What has been the best part of Avlis thus far, keeping you logging in?
Ilikethecold
Literally the people. Everyone has their own way of dealing with our Gnolls being Gnolls and the interactions are always fun and usually pretty funny. Some people get scared, some people help them out, and some people pay them to beat each other up

For me, it's wanting to get more interactions like the one with Thienna(?), and other characters. Stuff to progress Thurrj's character and story. The dungeon crawls are pretty fun too!

You really do need both in game, the one on one interactions and a little crump now and then.
What has been something you wish Avlis had or could improve on?
We can handle a little criticism.

For me, it's the view towards power building and balance, but most of the servers I've played on before this had a much, much larger focus on PVP, so I'm not sure how much that particular criticism will hold up in the long term. For someone whose only ever seen that side of NWN though, it was a huge shock, lol. I actually kind of forgot that vanilla NWN had random HP gains and stuff because the places I played at before always gave you your max, instead of hiding the value. Also, the way ECL is handled, at least for Gnolls, is a little weird to me. A different NPC class than humanoid, like, monstrous humanoid or something would be nice just for the hp/ab. BUT! All that said, it's a surprisingly small gripe for how much I can write on it, and I kind of want to see what I end up thinking of it after playing here a while

I do think Avlis does max HP but someone with a better grasp on mechanics can tell you that after.

For me, I might just be too new/IC reasons. But in the DM events I have been in, they've all seemed to be one-offs and haven't had any real explanation? Again, probably just people not telling the gnoll characters cause, gnoll.

Ha. I think it is hard to get a feel for what is happening in big events so talking to someone after is a much better way of learning. I play a new character and I get the same thing at events.
This may be a silly question given who you both play but, do you share any similarities with your characters?

I am really tall, kind of dumb, and like to eat.

What keeps you busy outside of Avlis?

Prepping for a nursing program and helping my family manage a move for rn.

Mostly just that real life grind for me. Work and staying alive

Also a lot. Alive is important.
We are about to have a Trade Fair next month. I hope you can both break free for that. It is something everyone should experience.

Lots of player merchants work with new players through either doing some odd jobs for them.

They are a lot of fun, even without a ton of gold. Lots of giveaways too. I think someone won an apartment even.

I mean, I'm pretty sure if you give a Gnoll a free enchanted sword, you basically become besties for life. I'm not sure that burden is worth the generosity
