Windows XP pro x64 Edition funkiness
Hey all,
I very recently built a computer and I am having some funkiness with NWN. I am currently running two geforce 7600GS's in SLI mode and I am getting all sorts of odd things happening when I play. The screen flashes a lot, and my character warps all over on the screen when I walk anywhere.
Since I am running x64, I was wondering if there were any more recent drivers than the 84.26 ones that I am using. I hope some of you out there have a little more insight into this than I do.
Otherwise, the system seems to run very well...
AMD64 X2 4000+
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Mobo
2GB Corsair DDR2 667mhz
160 GB Seagate SATA 3.0 HD
2X eVGA GeForce 7600GS (in SLI)
ANY insight into running x64 would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance

Make sure the driver you have is compatible with x64.
I setup a 64bit system for a friend with XP x64 on it. NWN ran fine with a PCI-Express GeForce 6800GT.

when you installed the game on your friends' system, did you have the folder install to the normal program files folder, or did you have it install to the (x86)program files folder?
Is there a difference?

Sounds like my problem i had a week or so ago.
NWN cant handle the dual core processor, so you have to set the CPU affinity to either 0 or 1.

I actually didn't install, I don't think. I believe I just copied it across to test.uaioe wrote:when you installed the game on your friends' system, did you have the folder install to the normal program files folder, or did you have it install to the (x86)program files folder?

I'll have to ask him how he installed his copy when he bought it.

Freeze01 is probably right.

now I have a different problem...
I logged into Elysia, (server hop) ran out of the start tent, then proceeded out the door into the wharves, only I didnt make it that far. I crashed out as the load screen came up... got about 75% done and boom, crashed. I have tried a bunch of different things, but everything I've tried doesnt help, it just keeps crashing.
do I need to have all the older haks in addition to the ones it says on the wiki?
Any insight would be really cool, THANKS!!

AFAIK, you only need the same haks that are in the module. It shouldn't make any difference which others you have. If anything, it should be better not to have all the old crap that most of us have.
I think the most likely problem is either graphics drivers or a corrupt hak. You could try downloading the haks again - perhaps one at a time. Remove the existing one and replace it with the new copy. Test.
Repeat for each one until it works, or until you have done that with them all.
You could also try reducing the graphics settings to the lowest - although I think too high a setting just makes it slow or look wrong - not make it crash.
Best of luck.

Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

hm. ok... I have checked the different servers, and it seems that the only time it crashes on me is when I try to enter the city of Elysia...
is there a specific .hak that pertains to Elysia, so I can narrow down my search?

Is it a specific zone in Elysia? Or Elysia period? I know the woods with the lifestone crashes me every single time I come to it from the outskirts beyond... maybe you are having a similar problem?uaioe wrote:hm. ok... It is just the city of Elysia that crashes me... any of the areas.
It's really aggrivating.
