Swapping versions of Neverwinter Nights

Post by Aradan Kir » Mon Jun 05, 2006 1:14 pm

I did a quick search around, but couldn't find this anyway.

What I want to know is if it's possible to take a complete copy of the NWN folder (or whatever specific files are changed) at version 1.66, then upgrade to version 1.67 and whenever I want to play Avlis, swap the files back to the 1.66 version ones?

So basically I would have 2 copies of the files and swap them over depending on which version I would like to run.

Is this going to work - or does anyone have a better solution?

Cheers,

A

Simply copy your NWN folder and run the update for the original and both versions will work just in their individual folders.

If possible, I'd put them on separate drives, preferably one removable. I spent a good deal of time a couple weeks ago sorting out misdirected shortcuts and uninstalling/reinstalling after trying something similar. Somehow I ended up with a 1.59 version that wouldn't update and a 1.66 that wouldn't revert. It seems computers get confused sometimes to.
Am I too fat to HiPS?

or easy:
copy your 1.66 nwmain.exe in your NWN folder to somewhere else
update to version 1.67
rename new nwmain.exe to something like nwmain167.exe
copy previous version of nwmain.exe back to your NWN folder and done

when ever you want to play on a server with version 1.67 just use the nwmain167.exe , and any copap shortcuts you might have will keep working fine with nwmain.exe in version 1.66

works perfect for weeks now

Do the two directory with 1 updated and one not. I used this several times when I was MCing and needed to test things in the new before we updated.

Make sure to create new shortcuts when you make the second directory.
I ain't as good as I once was, But I'm as good once as I ever was...
