Installation Issues

I have posted this on the NWN forums as well, but was hoping to pick on some of you all for help.

Basically, I can't reinstall NWN. At first I thought is was my old scratched disks as my installation failed at the same place everytime I tried to install. I went out and bought platinum and tried to install that. Now, after three or more hours installing I get an installation aborted notice without any specific error message. I have disabled all my anti virus and anti spyware stuff and I am pretty sure my system is clean. My graphic drivers are up to date. I even tried to copy the install disks to my hard drive in a hope to install from there, but I keep getting prompted to insert disk two and the installer won't accept the copy on my desk top. What am I doing wrong. I'm worried that my CD ROM is fried, but I don't know. I know enough of computers to be dangerous but not enough to figure this kind of thing out and fix it.

This is all very frustrating.

boy thats tough. it might help if you gave us some more information. what was the reason for reinstalling? did you make any upgrades?

on the cd rom issue: test it with another cd.

i feel your frusteration, i'd say join the dark side and put linux on it but that might increase your frusteration

hm with the information given the best i can recommend is to back up your important data and reformat. well first try deleting the old nwn folder before restalling maybe? sorry i cant be of more help

Something happened a few weeks ago and most of the stuff on my computer just went funky. So I basically cleaned house. Downloaded a new anti virus and anit spy ware program and uninstalled a few programs, NWN included, and reinstalled them. Everything was Peachy except NWN behaved a little differently, basically half the voicesets were missing and some of the sound effects were all funky. So I unistalled it again on wednesday morning and tried to reinstall it again to my present dilema. About midnight Wednesday I actually succeeded in installing it (this took nearly four hours) but then NWN would lock up three quarters of the way through opening a module. At the character creation screen the character model was all silver and again half the voicesets were missing, only this time different voice sets (when I say missing I mean the were in the list but there was no sound). This I attributed to an old graphics driver (after I unistalled it again) which has since been updated. I am totally at a loss
