Hey 2 questions concerning the requirements for macs. I am just about positive about both but I figured I would humor myself in hopes of being able to play.
Requirements in question
450mhz G4
I have a 700Mhz G3. I assume this requirement is fine with the much faster speeds. only concern with G4 vs G3 is Cache size, but they dont list a required cache so can't compare
Here is the hurter:
32mb vid card.
My junk G3 laptop only runs a 16mb, would it be even feasible to run the game on the lowest reso and graphics settings? I see persistent lockups and whatnot being a problem in transitions but just in hopes that it may work
thanks for the help in advance

I play Avlis on a Mac too, but with a higher rated system (dual G4 1.45 Mhz processors, 64MB graphics card). I don't have any system problems and play at the highest resolution most of the time.
I don't have an answer for your question, but I'd say, give it a try and see how it goes for you. You can turn off a lot of the graphics effects and still have a great time in Avlis. Good luck.

I'm running on a 667 G4 and it is just barely playable. Cannot participate in any DM events or larger parties due to lag and low frame rates. I have the same video card you do. It's not going to make much of a difference I'm afraid, you be playing on the lowest settings with all effect and music turned off anyway.
Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news.

I have a 700mhz emac and it runs fine. So it might work OK on your G3. I would not recommend your G4 or laptop though, HOTU requires a bit more grunt than vanilla NWN.

I run on a 15" 1.5 Ghz Powerbook and a 1 Ghz eMac with no real problems, but it is noticeably slower on the eMac mostly due to the video card in it. I have to crank down the effects on the eMac to prevent it from getting jerky when a lot of things are moving on the screen.
I don't think your processor will be a problem, but I suspect your video card won't have enough oomph.

It is a video card issue. I had a 32 meg card and had to run at lowest settings and was difficult with too many people on but went to 64 meg card and doing much better.
I have, at work that is, 500mhz G4, 256 mb ram, 64/32 meg radeon duel desktop (play on 64 card). It works alright atleast enough to get me fix.

thats what i assumed. and i know how lag can hurt roleplaying unless i play someone who fell off the short bus
nonetheless im gonna try to downlaod the demo when i have time and see how it runs. if it works out well i may go buy normal nwn and just play some single player to get the nwn practice and get reacquainted with the engine. (havent played in like a year, and had a friends copy)
but thanks for the help!
plus i just got a handsome raise at work so maybe ill get the new G5 even before xmas
