Gaaaah! friggen CD key is buggy!

Post by Ben DeVeny » Wed Sep 08, 2004 1:24 pm

Im installing NWN on my work computer so I can play on days when its slow here. (some days I have like 5 minutes of work to do ALL day).

When I get as far at HotU, the damned thing says "this is not a valid CD key". Weird because I installed it fine at home, and the basic game and Undrentide went fine as well.

A friend of mine sent me a little program that generates keys. That was fine. I got the game installed finally and tried to log onto Mikona via gamespy. Then it tosses me out because my CD key is invalid!!!! bugger!

I have a perfectly valid game, but the machine wont accept the key. Ive typed it like 20 times by now.

So my question to the experts is this:

Is there some itty bitty file somewhere I can edit in my machine so I can put my REAL key in? Is there some other solution?

How can I get past the "this is not a valid CD key?"
:(

nwncdkey.ini holds your keys in text format. It is in your NWN directory. Copy it from home and take it to work and paste it over the one there.

You should have never used a key generator. They can only make valid keys for install, but not online play as the key is validated on the Bio master server.
Thought thinks itself.
