Changelings?

New player here. I'm currently at work downloading the hak packs and such required to play the game, and haven't had a chance to log in yet. I've been reading all over the site whenever my boss isn't looking *hides* and I have seen some mention of a Changeling race. When i look at the races area where it says Make____to be_____ I do not see Changeling mentioned. I was wondering if Changeling is still a race in Avlis, and if they are, I have a few questions. If you are a changeling and change into say, an elf, would you get a Dex bonus and lose some Con? What about changing a rock to avoid being killed? I may have missed some things while viewing the site, so any help would be appreciated. Sorry if I did miss this and wasted someone's time.

If all goes well, I should be playing tonight for the first time. I am extremely impressed with the freedom that Avlis gives to characters, and am eagerly waiting to play.

I think there's a FAQ somewhere, but I'll explain nonetheless:

You'll need to make an elf to make a Changeling. Using the search function will surely cough up the stat boni you'll get too.

No, changing shape won't do anything in regards to stat boni, extra attacks, racial ability, or whatever. The only thing that might change is your size, from normal to small, tiny or large. That's all.

And you can only change to the form of a creature, not to inanimate objects or somesuch.

The abilities of a changeling are mostly RP abilities only, as the engine isn't fooled by anything you change into. Only DM's or players can react appropriately to your changeling form, which is a bit sad, but otherwise it would be nigh to impossible to script.

Ok, thanks. That helps a lot. Wow, I'm surprised I got such a quick response. I guess some other people roam around here at work

Avlis has a lot of global players, not just people within the US.

It says JollyOrc is in Germany, so it was 7:21pm there, at time of posting.

Opps, sorry, I didn't even notice you were from Germany. I'm not really all that good at posting since this is my first forum to participate in even though I've played several other MMO's. There were always different servers for other countries so I'm used to playing with people who are only from America or Canada. *Cheers for Canada* I'm from a city named Alexandria, in Louisiana in the USA. If anyone is from around here, let me know. It'd be interesting to know where different people are from, but ya'll probably already know. I guess it was a bit presumptious of me to assume that everyone on here is from the US

I look forward to playing with everyone as soon as I get off work.
