Qualifications for Epic Bonus Feats?

Post by Midknight » Fri May 21, 2004 2:16 am

Another question that I'm unsure of...
Do you have to meet the qualifications of an epic feat, or does taking it as a bonus feat mean you can bypass the requirements?

Ex. Devastating critical requires overwhelming critical, cleave, improved crit, etc.
Take for example an epic weapon master. Does he need to fulfill the requirements to take it as a bonus feat?

Additonally, a couple of questions on specific feats, namely mobility and spring attack. Do these apply only to AoO's incurred by movement, or do they apply to actions (spellcast, etc.) as well?

The feat will not be available to take until you have the requirements.

Also feats that depend on ranks in a skill ranks are only counted for those that you have actually put into the skill. Skill focus, gear, or epic skill focus does not count towards the number of ranks needed for the skill.

Also even if you meet the requirements sometimes it's allowed you level in a certain class to be able to choose them. Say you are a multiclass bard/something else and you meet the requirements for Lasting Inspiration, you can choose it if you level up as a bard, but can't if you level up as something. It makes sense I suppose, but the manual doesn't explicitally say it.

Also I've noticed that in Epic levels bonus feats get screwed up. The ranger gets to pick out of his bonus pool it seems (even though he isn't epic yet) when he can pick a favourite enemy (once his total char is above lvl 21) and the same thing with a rogue.

also, if an Epic feat requires you to have a certain stat level, say Devestating Critical requires you to have a Str 25+, you need to have a 25 Str before you take Devestating Critical in order to qualify.

I.E. if you have a 24 Str and when leveling you have the option to increase a stat point normally, you can take the Devesatating Crit as well, because the stat increase is already registered on you char when you get to the feat selection, BUT you cannot take a Greater Str feat to increase your Str to 25 at the same time as taking Devestating Crit. That's simply because the stat increase has not been saved to your character during the feat selection process yet, so it still thinks you only hve the 24 Str.
