I am beginning to hate gamespy. I must spend ages typing in passwords only to be told the password is incorrect. And you cannot even tell if you mistyped a letter because it uses a star to represent the letter typed.
What is the best way to log on Avlis without using gamespy?

You MUST login to login to Avlis.
Everyone, PLEASE understand that the login screen is NOT logging in to Gamespy. You are logging in to verify your CDKey. The Authorization server that does this is run by BioWare.
If you don't login, we can't verify who you are, and thus the server rejects the connection.
You can use a direct connect shortcut to avoid using the IN GAME browser, but it wont by-pass the login screen.
Just save your password once you finally get it right. It'll save the trouble of mis-typing or forgetting your password... of course, you wouldn't want to do this if you share the computer with someone who might try to login to your NWN account.

A wise man does not dwell on his past. He learns from it, he grows from it, and then moves ahead into his future.
And some wise words from a wise man.
