recent ATI Radeon driver update

Post by Malathyre » Mon Oct 27, 2003 5:07 am

I recently downloaded the latest driver package from ATI for my Radeon 9000 (I believe it is catalyst package 3.8, also known as 030917, I think). After installing on my comp running Windows XP Pro, NWN had some odd visual quirks. Things like lava and water blinked almost constantly, as did "tall" objects such as trees, buildings, or pillars. Very distracting.

I tried messing with a bunch of video options, both in NWN and the settings for the video card itself, but I was unable to get rid of the annoying blinking. I'm not really looking for help on this, as I just reinstalled the old drivers (3.7), and now NWN runs fine (I know, I should have left well enough alone...). I wasted 30 minutes playing with all of this, so I thought I'd send out fair warning to anyone else that the new package may cause you a problem as it did me.

Happy gaming!

Oh, sorry if this is in the wrong forum...seemed appropriate.

I've had some very, very bad issues since I installed 3.8. Not sure if its related to 3.8, but I'm getting red streaks down my screen when in 3d games. When playing RTCWET, I get *everything* fucked up... can't even quit, i can't see the menu. So beware, ATI boys.

Oh yeah, I'm on a 9700

graphics are great now i have radeon ATI 9100 but there is a problem thou

Sometimes get driver errors on it from time to time......

I think 3.8 might be faulty

I too have had big problems with the new driver. It's sad too, cause the old driver was giving me some slight problems (but playable). I had such high hopes.... This has been the only game I have had problems with, although I have read/heard of others. Oh well...till I find that money tree..this will have to do.

I'm running 3.9 drivers with my 9800Pro (just got it last week :))

Seems to otherwise be working fine. I don't notice anything wrong with the graphics as compared to the old geforce3 I was running.

I've been using these with 9700 and 9800 pro and find they work much better than the ATI one's,I always install the ATI ones first and see a big difference specially in the latest updated one from ATI.
