Maybe someone from the NWN/Avlis community can reach out to GameRanger for this as well? I've not looked into it a lot, but soon as I saw the headline of the article my first thoughts were of Avlis and NWN.

I've mentioned this a few times already, but NWNCX already can replace the old functionality of gamespy. It uses Skywing's master server list replacement, and Avlis has been using the plugin for it for a long time. Just download and follow the instructions to patch your file, and do remember to back it up first... in a few places. *edits* No patching needed actually, if you just want the serverlist stuff. I forgot that. 
*The open face helms work too, with some model adjustments, but are quite glitchy. You need to unequip and reequip your helm/hood every login, or you see no head, and everyone else looks... strange. It needs some server-side scripting, or something through nwnx to make it really work. Smeec never looked better though, even with the clipping collar....
