|Sound Options and Windows 7

Post by freestyler » Tue Jul 06, 2010 1:30 pm

I have installed Windows 7 and was expecting all kinds of OMG & WTF ....smash and bash , but its actually been pretty amazing.

The only thing I am snuggling with is the sound options in setting ......I don't seem to have one for hardware, thee are 5 options to choose from in advanced sound , but I thought there was a 3D Surround hardware option?

Could someone confirm this ?

The only other issue was forgetting to save my "LOCALLY STORED" journal , listing every book I had found in game ... I forgot this because I am a dumb ass, as I forgot it last time I installed an OS....

Heya. My own experiences with Win 7 have also been great. I'm amazed at how much better it is than Vista. Very stable.

Surround sound is more a product of your sound card, speakers and drivers than the operating system. If your sound card supports it and you have the audio gear, it will be available via the sound card's configuration settings.

Win 7 does have the 'Virtual Surround' (simulated) in the Sound control panel.
Control Panel > Sound > Speakers > Properties > Enhancements tab > Virtual Surround checkbox.

Sorry , yes my card supports it , Creative XFI Extreme Music, with additional optical input to get 5.1

I have EAX options in other games no problem and had that option previously in NWN, but cannot put the X in the box now....In advance sound options it only offers the following :

Direct sound 3D Software
Direct sound 3D Software emulation
Dolby Surround
Miles Fast 2D
Rad Game 3DAudio

No hardware options , in the sound settings as directed above by Manuel ~ EAX is enabled and game can take full control of the settings and options, so bit of a mystery ? I also run the Creative Console and tests in there perform as expected.
