NWN - xp ~ Vista error?

Was not quite sure where to put this topic , but I have NWN on 2 machines , laptop and the "base station war machine hub" at home, so I can play on the road and at home.

Laptop has vista ~ home has XP.......laptop crashes every time I open a particular magic bag. Home PC is fine when doing same. Now I am thinking this is a windows version error as in the main difference between the two computers, but on the laptop I tried running vista in XP mode and same thing happens.... does it make any difference ?

Could this be an actual in game item that is bugged only on a certain version of windows / NWN / hak mismatch on the laptop. Do I need to check all the haks etc.

Or go back to that dodgy merchant in a Mikona back street, I bought it off, take a blade on the fool and ....oh wait that's probably me .....

Thoughts please ?


(Normal greater magic bag, have other that work fine , but opening it causes a full program crash, before the items appear)

It sounds like a .hak issue, and not a vista issue.

I'd recommend redownloading the .haks, and see it that helps in fixxing the isssue. If so, an easy fix. If not, then try updateing your video drivers.

Have you emptied out the bag while in XP mode, then tried opening it again using the laptop? It might not be the bag, but whatever you carry in it.

Either way, Brayon is right, it does sound like a problem with a hak.

Yes have empited the bag totally , still crashed. Put a tested safe item in the bag and tried again still crashed.

Will try all the Haks again. Thanks

If you have a decent sized USB stick, try copying the haks from the machine that works onto the one that doesn't.

You already have those haks downloaded and you know they work.

Thanks Guys this is sorted , replaced all the haks from the good machine to the corrupt one and I can now game on the laptop without crashing every feww minutes , and also found some interesting swag in the bag
