Its the abilities of our characters that makes us like them. But its the challenges and disadvantages that makes us love them.

As for specialist schools, taking a spellfocus and greater spellfocus feat goes without saying for your school of preference.

Sorcerer or wizard? All comes down to what you want more, do you want to have more spell selections per level, or more diversity in combat? The thing that decides it all for me is a line from Baldur's Gate 2 about sorcerers: "When wizards have cast all their spells but one, they are stuck with that one, but a sorcerer that has cast all spells but one has a choice still and can pick the best spell for the moment"
