One of my clients who died a few weeks ago has had all his old possessions of value stolen between his death and his parents asking for his things...

Odds on someone who'd do that would rob a grave if they thought they could get away with it.

People rock.
You think that's bad, someone I know was in an automobile accident, he rolled his car when he hit gravel. He was dazed and really in bad shape, but he could hear someone pull up, take his wallet from his pocket and drive away...

That being said, I do open sarcophogi and coffins to 'look for undead' cause some of them are scripted to pop out more zombies, which I think is a really nice touch. But check the coffin afterwards, if there was gold there to start with, it will still be there when I close the lid.

No one's robbing from the local cemetary. They're going into catacombs and crypts of those that are long dead, which has been mentioned here. This is commonly known as archaeology, and is widely accepted IRL today. So, yes, in the same vein, my character "steals" from graves. Aunt Jean is safe though, don't worry.

Ahh.... your family doesnt use the crypts then!! Good for you!
Much less likely to get robbed or turned into an undead if
you are hiding her in the back yard!
I have considered putting that in my own will as well... "keep me out of the crypts, too dangerous." The public graves are also far too crowded, with all the adventurers, paladins, grave robbers (oops! excuse me!!! ARCHEOLOGISTS!), undead, and... dead people.
