I have been thinking about responding to this for sometime. I guess the only reason I think this way is because I am not happy with Avlis NWN1. There... I said it... I feel better now.szabot wrote:I am. It will be some time before a NWN2 PW can offer anything close to what Avlis offers now. I suspect I'll be thinking about NWN1 for quite some time still.Marleh wrote:I gotta say, this is the second most depressing thing I've read today.anodynes wrote:With less than 22 days until release of NWN2, who is really even thinking about NWN1 here? It seems like the transition has already started.
If there was no avlis or COPAP...

I'm new here but I've been playing on NWN servers for some time. From reading everyone's thoughts, I can see that there is alot of guessing here.
What it takes to build a PW is massive and alot of you know this because sometime you have been involved somewhere down the line on one.
But after reading up on this world and seeing how long its been running. I can safely say there has been a huge amount of work and experience into it which is just amazing. So the experience gathered over time, the trail and errors and the months and months of developing systems. I can see why the Avlis2 development team wish to make sure everything is right and I hope they don't want to rush it because of the mass's.
So this is my guess... The Avlis team are making sure they build a server that is close to 100% before launching. So thats going to take sometime, so in a way that benifits me in a selfish way in that I have alot of time to explore this server with my character

When it comes down to it, I play Team Fortress! Steam Games released it again and I've been into it. Mainly, it brings back a lot of that college nostalgia of a simpler time, which is cool. The graphics aren't that great, but I really care more about the game play, which is awesome. I can't wait until TF2, and I should have a lot of time to play!
I never played on Layonara, but a few days ago I was talking on the phone to the guy who's my counterpart over there, and they have a lot of the same spirit and passion for the field that we do here. We are a lot alike.
Layonara will not be doing NWN2 at all.
When I'm not playing TF, I play Halo 2, which is another awesome game.
I used to be big into MMORPG's like UO and SWG, but I don't really play them anymore because they have no magic for me now that I've made a NWN PW. All I see is code and design. "Man, that's gonna screw up the economy." or "Man, I wonder how many players whined about that change." or "Man, that quest shouldn't be repeatable." Ick... Just kinda sucks.

Same for me. Although not because I've built a world, but after living in enough of them for long enough, you just know what will work and what won't and why.Orleron wrote:I used to be big into MMORPG's like UO and SWG, but I don't really play them anymore because they have no magic for me now that I've made a NWN PW. Heh, I know what you mean. Every time I play a game I deconstruct it competely; it can make it harder to retain enjoyment of games sometimes, but that's the price you pay.Orleron wrote:All I see is code and design. Since Nwn has come out i've hopped back and forth between the battlefield's and copap..if there was no copap i'd be on the battlefield's...
Battlefiled 1942 ( all it's expansions') Bf vietnam, both of them run prety good on lower end machine's... Then Battlefield 2 was released ( for pc , the xbox and playstation version's are different for them thier known as bf2 modern combat) I'm currently a first lutenant and rising i'll be a captain in no time( it's an online ranking system, each kill, flag capture etc, give's you point's toward's rank's) but the demo for Battlefiled 2142 was just released ( had it within the hour lol) and i gota say... I so fucking love the battlefield!! I'm realy torn between buying it and nwn 2... all i've heard about nwn 2 is pesimistic view's , it's looking and sounding like the clan isn't going to even give it a second look.. as much as i've read on it and seen, i'm not impressed. The movie trailer for it suck's..it's not even an IG movie, all of the battlefield movie's , trailer's etc are made IG style, you can do drive blow up everything they do in the movie and then some.Sooo just like nwn 1's trailer movie, nwn 2's movie dosen't represent the game graffic's.. which would normally ( pre avlis day's) had turned me off of the game entirely... I think I'll wait untill it's released, find a friend who's got to much money to burn, talk him into buying it and seeing then if the game's going to hold up... So many game's...so little money and time to try them all just to turn around and toss them in the "never to be played again pile"
Savagej
P.S. if your into behind the gun first person shooter's with alot of action , not to mention being able to use any and everything you see tank's, plane's car's jeep's, the guy you just killed gun's and equipment
. I'd recommend The Battlefield's ( especially BF2 and BF 2142)
