A list of decent hakpaks for NWN?

Post by Agamemnon » Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:29 pm

Hey everyone, I'm not that new; I've been lurking around since March. Then again, compared to some of you that is pretty new  . Anyways I was just wondering about hak paks and all and how some are really great, such as the henchman mod and the hands mod and what not. I just have a question; is there somewhere where someone has scribed a list of all decent and worthy hakpaks? I'll be honest; I didn't know about the PRC Pack until yesterday! So is there a list somewhere or not?

Before I write up a long list, do you want to use these in:

1. A mod you make yourself.

2. A persistent world you make yourself.

3. Avlis

4. The Original Campaign

5. Something I missed?

Also, are you looking at haks, or overrides?

Haks add additional content to the mod, need to be added in the building of the mod and all players must have a copy of the hak before they can play that mod or PW.

Overrides replace the look of an item on your machine only, but the original look is still there for everyone else. For example, the majority of the players probably do not have the lizardman shield override, so when a lizardman character equips a shield they do not see it, but with the override I can.

For 2:
Can't really help you there, except for one thing: Don't make an NWN1 persistent world. Too much work, not rewarding, people have done everything you want already and perhaps even better.

For 3:
How to find these: Search on http://nwvault.ign.com
-Cave override
-CEP Head override
-Color override (remove after installing 1.67)
-Bowstring override (remove after installing 1.67)
-Spell Icon override
-Immunity Icon override
-Combat Animation override

For 4:
Don't use anything. Really. Using PrC will make you unable to do any of the cool class-based quests. Maybe tileset overrides like DLA forest would be nice, but then again.. rather not. NWN1 was made with the OC in mind. Use it how the developers intended it is usually the best.
Same for CEP - even if you get the cool weapons and clothing, you won't be finding any items with them anyway.

Thanks for the help. When I get the chance I'll download them.

Both are in my interest, though it seems Krator is saying that isn't such a good idea. Then again I didn't understand much of what he said. What is DLA forest? OC? CEP? If I download these will they crash the game if I play on Avlis or on NWN campaign or what?

No, you need CEP to play here on Avlis anyway, and a number of haks.

What Krator is saying is that if you plan to make a PW from scratch it could be very frustrating as many PW's and other servers have been closing in anticipation of NWN2.

Ah, I see. Yeah, isn't it supposed to be out sometime in September? But yeah, I'm really not making anything new anymore, considering the toolset is very prone in deciding to corrupt my unfinished modules. Besides if I were to make a persistent PW world I'd definitely wait until NWN2, so I guess scratch off #2. Thanks anyways though.
