Post by downsystem » Sat May 13, 2006 4:57 pm

Ive never been involved in CvC play but i was just wondering this. If one defeats a nother player's character in a battle do they get exp for it?

No unless a DM gives you some for one reason or another.

You do not gain direct xp from it like killing a monster. However, through enriched rp of character conflict there may be some dm luv involved, which ultimately may win you xp cookies.

No idea whether it's hardcoded or changed or whatnot, but I do know that killing another player does not grant you xp (unless as others have mentioned, a DM cookies you). I see this as a good thing, as it's pretty exploitable if you got xp. Just have a friend meet you somewhere and start farming each other. Sounds... wrong.

back in the old warzone, i remember getting 'you have gained 0 xp for killing this creature' messages when you Deathplaned hostile PCs. Its not really that exploitable as someone has to get Deathplaned, and if your blatantly farming a PC like that, the DMs will catch you, and they will fuck you up.

XP is given by the OnDeath script.

NPC's all have OnDeath scripts.

Players do not have scripts, but the module has an OnPlayerDeath script that fires for every player that dies.

Currently, in that OnPlayerDeath script there is no XP awarded for killing a player. That's why you don't get any XP when you kill a PC.

There are currently NO plans to grant XP for killing a PC.

None.

I was thinking more of Exploiters A and B deciding to head to the Temple of O'Ma in Elysia and kill each other to 4th lvl in a couple of hours or so, but I'm sure there are half a hundred reasons why this is a bad idea.

What are you talking about XP? You get loot when you kill other PCs!

He was refering half jokingly to drylooting pcs after killing them, a practice that is generally frowned upon. (Read: will ussually get you in huge IC trouble)
