That used to happen to me with Deglos (Visi wasn't in yet) back when I had a very old computer running NWN. I think the problem was that my computer couldn't load all the haks before timing out. That may be your problem, unless you have a newer computer, in which case I don't know.

I never had a problem on both of my computers with 512Mb of RAM running XP, however I do remember having such a problem with Deglos occasionally on my very old Celeron-433 with 192 Mb of RAM.PlasmaJohn wrote:You're going to want 1Gb of RAM as well. You may be able to squeak by on 512Mb but you really need more especially if you use XP.
It seems that Compaq Presario SR1300NX only has 256 Mb so upping the memory to at least 512 should help. You could also try minimizing the amount of memory used by Windows itself by reducing fancy stuff like visual effects and unloading unneeded processes, but I would not recommend trying it unless you know what you are doing.

You should definitely order one of these, as I'm about to do.

This is a tried and proven system that I use and probably considered the minimum to avoid issues:
Pentium IV 1800 Megahertz
Nvidia 5600 Ultra video card 128 Mb RAM
512Mb motherboard RAM
56k modem connection (runs realistically 44kbytes/sec)
The only time I get issues is when I am in a large party and/or many monsters about in combat or casting spells etc.
I have been to every Avlis server over a 56k connection with my computer. I am saying if your system is better than this then you might have a bad hak installed, etc.
And like Aerill stated, turn down all your settings (especially video... drop down to no antialising, no shadows, etc) to see if it makes a difference.

Runs fine on Celeron 2.4 Ghz, WinXP, 512 RAM, Radeon 9200 SE, "Fast" (=lowest setting) graphics on NWN.
