If your int is 6, the average tryglodyte is smarter than you. I repeat, the tryglodyte.
Try creating a character in nwn single player with int of 6 and observe the dialogue the character spouts to NPCs. Or make an extremely stupid character in Fallout / Fallout 2 and take some inspiration from there...'
No, you can't even speak properly. You're a sideshow freak from a Farrelly brothers movie.

Heh, I seem to be in the wrong profession.

so stupid you cant really play it without making a huge effort, and after a while that effort makes the character damn enjoyable to play. there is never a need to have 6 int unless you are totally min maxing. you just need to add 2 points there to make it 8 and slightly more playable.

that is after having to spend several minutes explaining to your PC exactly want the words "find", "hands", and "ass" actually mean.VETT SCALES L7 wrote:6 Int= Real stupid. Welllll... you can't start with a stat below 8 in NWN, before racial modifiers. Half-orcs get a -2 int, meaning 6 is the lowest you can go for base stats.Alex III wrote:Moreover, what if I make a half-orc with 4 int?

I played a Barbarian with an Int of 4 in PnP.Aloro wrote:Welllll... you can't start with a stat below 8 in NWN, before racial modifiers. Half-orcs get a -2 int, meaning 6 is the lowest you can go for base stats.Alex III wrote:Moreover, what if I make a half-orc with 4 int?

Never knew how many different grunts and wack-ass gestures a person could make until I rolled that character. It was fun. Too bad I can't re-create him in NWN, damn restrictions.
I wish NWN made dice rolls rather than a pre-set point system. Got much more variation and possibilities rolling 3d6.

The only reference I can directly use was this -Reduced linguist capacity - ok, my char won't be able to read Shakespeare, that's granted. But should he mess up grammar? Or should he just have trouble with the complex words? Or should he have a limited vocabulary, and how limited? An INT of 6 would then correspond to IQ of 60, which is likely to be associated with poor learning abilities, limited social skills, reduced linguist capacity.
This is too rich

A linguist is a person who studies linguistics, thus a "reduced linguist capacity" connotates the reduction of a group of peoples' capacity for members of their group to devote themselves to the study of linguistics.

Oh on a side note, was it said anywhere what is Elan's (OotS) INT score? I doubt more than 8 ...

My 2 cents for intellegence of 6 (I have a cousin in this catagory, unfortunately)-
A lot of the things you probably take for granted, you shouldn't.
You will have a hard time remembering if you have rented a room somewhere, until you have had that room for a long time. You will forget things that are important, like bringing Healing kits with you on an adventure (even if you are wise enough to know you need them, you forgot you haven't replaced the last ones you used), or where some particular plant grows you want to harvest.
You will tend to be loud when talking with other people, because the louder you are, the more attention you get. You will have a very hard time being able to hide your feelings about something, or to restrain yourself from acting on impulse - arguements often lead to some physical action on your part (running away, smashing a table, throwing a fit, hitting someone....).
You will tend to not understand the value of money - Sure buy that stack of Hot Arrows for 10,000 gold! Or could I just trade you my 2 Rune ring of Strength? Although for this, a HIGH Wisdom could probably mitigate it.
You will need someone to periodically watch out for you as well. In reality, people with an intellegence this low have a hard time taking care of themselves, especially dealing with new situations. You are also easily distracted, so you will tend to wander off on occasion, or forget why you are doing what you are doing.
You CAN learn to craft, but will have a difficult time learning something without help. You tend to learn by doing things over & over again, rather than having someone just give you directions once.
Not an easy thing, to have an INT at level 6. And one of the biggest question to have to answer, is why are you out adventuring? Most people at this INT level do not search out new experiences, but like to keep things the same. It is far more comfortable for them. Learning something new is stressful.
In the case of my cousin, getting a job at McDonalds, and actually being able to earn money for himself was a HUGE accomplishment, and is about the limit of what he can do in the workforce.
If you really want to play a character with in INT this low, you should probably play the game WITHOUT taking any notes, or making/using any maps. If you can't remember which tunnel branch to take without looking at your notes, you can bet your character can't. And at INT 6, he didn't remember to take notes.
