Help: Custom containers

Post by Starslayer_D » Tue Apr 08, 2003 7:23 am

Hello,
in my work to implement more flowers into Avlis I have hit a small bumb in my progress.

How do I create a custom container for the flowers, and especially how do I predetermine it's inventory in a way that it contains only the wanted flowers (and not random gold, weapons, etc.)

Can anybody help me there?

Thank you for your response,

Starslayer

Alright here we go, step by step...

Open the program, select a module or make one, and create a new Placeable.

Name the type of plant that the flower is going to use. Say for example, Marledayne Rosebush. Then create it, and it will now have a tag of marledaynerose... something or other in General properties. Underneath that tag there is the Appearance tag. Use Shrub.

Now we look further below and have the Category of marledayne something or other that you cannot edit. Beneath and to the right of that is a checkbox Useable. Check it. Then it highlights the Has Inventory Checkbox below it. Check it. Now on the very left and below the shrub model, there is an Inventory... click box. Click that to build the your flower.

Now you have a list of items. At the bottom, there is a NEW click box. Click that as we are going to make a new flower item for your shrub.

A list pops up. Use Miscellaneous Small. Name it Marledayne Rose. Use your choice of Appearance values for the item. Now write a description for the flower under the Identified Item Descriptions and Click the box that says its Identified if you added any properties to it.

Now that you have made your flower, it is now in the list for the shrub we created. Drag the Rose to the Contents Window, and there you have your new flower and rosebush almost ready.

Finally, because we didnt do it earlier, lets make sure our shrub doesnt have any wierd properties. Go from the Basics Tab to the Lock Tab. Make sure no one can Lock the stupid plant. LOL Next the Trap Tab. If you really want to be annoying, trap this baby with a minor tangle or spike trap. RP'ing this, when someone goes to pick the flower, they are tangled in the thorns or something. Go to Advanced and change the Icon to that of a shrub. Then in the Description Tab, write something that a character who examines the shrub would find out about the plant. It'd be great if we could use Wilderness Lore here, but oh well. Do this especially if you put a trap around the plant for some odd reason.

That should do it!!

Last, if you find this confusing, or have any questions. I am a beloved forum whore here, and will most likely answer it fairly quickly.
