Strange hang-up when looking at Character Sheet

Post by Bigdaddy037 » Mon Sep 26, 2005 12:30 am

Problem (sorry in advance for the lengthy description)
When logging in, everything is fine UNTIL I pull up my character sheet.

Upon pulling up character sheet, the sheet shows no XP (though level is there), no skills or feats. Looks exactly like when there is extreme lag, except it doesn't go away (stood there for 30 min at one point thinking that it was lag, but no g

Also, after pulling up the character sheet, no one can hear me, I can't transition anywhere, Inventory doesn't pull up (it does before pulling the character sheet for first time).

I believe the DM (at least) can see me, because I received a cookie when it was first going on (I know, sounds wierd, but was at a group thing at a temple).

First happened in Visimontium (Goethar Temple with the Sentinals).
- Logged in and off several times thinking that might clear it up - didn't.
- Logged in with another computer - same problem.
- Later logged into Ferrell (where I was having no problems yesterday). This is when I realized that it was the Character Sheet that initiiated the problem. Ran awhile with no problems, then pulled the Character Sheet up - bam! Problem comes back. Verified on a relog one more time.

Thanks for any feedback you may have on it.
Looking for any feedback/insight anyone may have on this.

I had that happen to me when I picked up an object that didn't actually exist in Avlis... some Hala thing someone had dropped I think, or from some other CoPaP world anyway. I had to have a DM remove it from my inventory before I could open my sheet again.

I've had similar problems after being deathplaned. Now normally I can sneak around kobolds, beetles, and other low CR monsters just easy. Got unlucky in the sewers recently (*shakes fist at DM spawn*) and got deathplaned. Damn.

Ok, I get out, sneak down and get my stuff, or planned to anyway? All the kobolds start firing at me. That's weird I'm supposed to be stealthier than that. And more than that, they're hitting. I pull up my character sheet and see: AC 8 (??), and none of my skills even break a +5 modifier. Where did my ranks and bonuses go?

Annnyhow. Logging out and in seems to do the trick for now, but it's a nasty surprise.

That is what I thought it was at first (though I didn't death plane), but turned out not to be it this time.

I honestly have no idea what would be causing this for you, though I have something for you to check.

It happened to me a while ago that when I performed my initial password and the server screen came up (the place where you can see who is on, and what your character looks like and such before you actually log in)...

Anyways, when I would click on my characters on the left to choose one, I got no picture, no stats, no XP, but when I logged into the game I was just fine. Come to find out that my tempclient folder had something in it, and windows was telling me that it was corrupt (your tempclient folder "should" be empty, I think.

So, I deleted it (or since it wouldnt delete, I changed the name of it and made a new empty one) and all was fine again..

I know this isnt your problem, but it may sort of be connected in some strange Windows/ computer kind of way....

Check it out and let me know,
Michael K

Well, i appreciate it, but none of these worked.

I thought it might have been the off world item, since I just picked up some items at the fair, but didn't work.

Thanks everyone for your ideas.
