i use a sling exclusively. in fact its the only weapon my pc has (except her razor sharp wit).
for a long time though I was stumped by the difficulty in getting a good sling (anything over +1 or with any additional benefits). i eventually got one from a dm drop, but i wonder if there are many good slings out there?
also, i dont know if this is fixed or not, but there was an issue in the past with strength bonus/penalties being incorrectly applied to slings. im not 100% sure since its been a while since I cared if I did 4 damage or 8 damage (although I'll always be proud of my 1 damage crits), but maybe someone can clear this up?
if theres still an issue with avalabilty of good slings and issues with them dealing damage correctly, maybe thats why people havent switched over to the finest weapon known to man.

*raises a hand* Longbow
Ell doesn't use anything else...um, ever. She stared out with a short bow, but the moment she could use a longbow she got one...it's the only weapon she's ever used. Something she's more than happy to talk about ICly *grins*.
As an AA I find she doesn't need anything else...but it was touch and go for a while there in the beginning.

Nah, monks move pretty quick, so the one round that it takes you to aim and fire the crossbow, they have already selected their target and hit a couple of quick keys to do a knockdown, stunning fist, or quivering palm. Dimension door is more for those hard to reach back places. Umm, that might not have sounded right.afterhours wrote:c'mon, every brawler needs a heavy crossbow to slug a good shot before charging.....

My personal favorite for the style is throwing axes.
Seriously, whipping an axe at some poor bugbears ass is just good stuff.
Though, my PC's generally seem to use bows or slings.
Sala had a bow of the huntress and a sunlight sling, though the bow was mainly for it's history, as Druids don't generally bust out the bows.

The ozone layer or cheese in a spray can... don't make me choose.

It would be so cool if monks' attack rate and furry of blow work with shurikens... Only thing cooler than 4-shurikens/round is 7-shurikens/round! Watch those things fly!
Yeah, but at 1d3, I don't even need monk speed to walk up to you, Kindly take them out of your hands and tell you to run along and play elsewhere. There needs to be more to them.

Alex uses a short bow. because...well because he cant use a long bow, plus they get stuck when he climbs through windows and other small crevices!!
Also as they are not so popular there is less competition for the higher enchanted magic bows, but I;m still looking my Yew Short bow.. I know they are out there.... Then one day, one day when he's epic he'll get that +3 Compo Short Bow in Zachs shop!
