oh, and when did this post get moved to general discussions?

Not that I mind. I'm finding the increased imput pool interesting and fairly helpfull, though I seemed to have missed any difinative staff stances on this issue. Of course, I could just be unobservant. *shrug* Oh well, as some of you out there say; Ce' la vie. (excuse the punctuation, please.)

From what I have seen posts usually get shifted to GD when non-team member start posting comments. I noticed it was in GD before I replied so it was there for a while.

Erm. FYI, the Ask the Team forum is not a place to discuss your own views, or for players to give any input at all. It's a place to Ask questions of the Team and get official answers. That's it. The second post to this thread was from me, a Major DM ( * waves * ), responding to your question. As of the third post in this thread, when you and then other players decided to add their own input and views and comments, this thread was no longer suitable for Ask the Team. Now, sometimes we'll just delete every post that doesn't belong, which in this case is literally all but 4 posts in this whole thread, including this one. Sometimes we'll leave the discussion in place, but move the whole thread, since it's no longer suitable for Ask the Team. That's what happened here.

Please, everyone, take a moment to read the sticky threads at the top of the Ask the Team forum. They tell you how to use that forum, and how not to. Clearly very very few people have ever bothered to read them.

As you can see, CPU (also a significant, or at least, significant sounding, team member) explicitly stated that his post is not a team ruling. Given that I am still used (primarily) to PnP D&D, where there is only one enity (a single human being serving as DM), the multiple authority figures here on Avlis can tend to "melt into" one another. This tendency is made worse by the fact that I have little experience with any of you in any way that I can really identify individuals. I often go for hours or even entire secssions without any evidence of DM activity that I can disern. Even when I am involved in events that result in clearly identifiable activity, It is not always (usually not, as a matter of fact) easy for me to tell who is DMing at that time. The only way I can really know which of you I am dealing with is if the dm "tells" me. In this case, I at least have a screen name. Unfortunately, apart from the activities connected to this occurance, the only DM tells I've had have been in connection to server resets. And few of those. As for those of you in the upper tiers of the team, I have even less direct interaction with you since you have jobs to that prevent you from being as active as I'm sure you would like to be. Even at the best, though, all interactions are electronic in nature. This means that alot of the uniqueness of the people involved is lost, since on block of text looks remarkably similiar to another and no faces or voices are envolved. This is unavoidable. but unfortunate for reasons far greater than this comparatively trivial case of confusion. Fortunately, it is likely that, with more experience, I will begin to be able to tell you guys apart. In the mean time, I'll just have to do my best to correct for the flaw, and to make sure not to get into situations where such identification is critical.

On a somewhat related note, one thing that I asked about that I have seen no referance too, is the possibility of aquiring a 'mentor' for this charecter, and possibly for myself in general. Whatever his (or my) annoyence level might be, there is definately, I would think, potential for mutual benefit in such an arrangement. Would anyone be interested, or perhaps, kown who I could contact to learn about someone who would be interested?

Well despite all the obstacles.. lag, rulings on the fly, etc. etc., I have heard people say that this was an awesome event.

Kudos to the DM that soldiered through to provide a worthy sendoff to the Sword of Toran!
