Patch 1.29 ((Rant))

Post by Ed_99 » Wed Mar 19, 2003 10:02 am

This patch takes the cake for why I hate downloading patches! Argh!!!!

The stupid timestop bug kept me from Elysia ALL NIGHT!! I hate that stupid bug!!

This patch suxorz!!! Personally, 1.28 was running 'okay' IMHO and I could almost put up a poll to revert back to it! I liked the OLDER set of problems a heckuva lot better than this new set of problems...

Just had to let it out...

Then cant we remove the 'timestop' spells from the NPCs who have hung the Elysia server all night? I would rather have the NPCs be easier to kill than to have the servers in timestop mode all night...

And that was just a side-note. I still don't like downloading updates all the time. Never have. Not just for NWN, but for other programs too.

Its just a pesky nuissance to me.

And this 1.29 is a half-way house update. Read the description for Uncanny Dodge - the expansion pack isnt out yet, but maybe 1.29 is here to get the program primed for it. ((Hence the issue with renaming certain functions and what-not))

I should clarify that before 1.29, the bug
was a lot more obscure.

I really can't see how last nights timestop episode in Elysia was caused by a NPC.

Before the prolonged timestop event from 10:00 - 11:20, the server had been resetting frequently and the few of us who where logged on there kept on getting booted (primarily myself, Count Olaf, ds77, and a few others).

Because none of us could have ever progressed very far away from the Blowing Gale Inn, I really doubt that a NPC would have had any reason to cast Timestop, unless of course they were just casting it for no apparent reason.

I am assuming there would only be 1 or 2 places within the Elysia server that there would be NPCs capable of that spell anyway, but correct me if I am wrong there.....

I wonder if the timestop problem coincides with the new AI. Before that, I don't think any of the NPC spellcasters were using that spell. If taking the spell away from the NPC's is an option, by all means do it. They obviously aren't responsible enough with their power to use it correctly. :P

NPC casters were using the spell pre new ai.

If you happen to be next to the npc that casts timestop and hangs a server take a minute to write down your location. If you post where the npc is, I can hop on and kill it as a dm, and the server will go back to normal.

Otherwise it is like trying to find a needle in a pile of needles.

I stated this else where but...

I don't know of a single NPC in Elysia that can cast time stop. None of the vampire mages in the Forest of Midnight can. I made damn sure none of them had that spell in their list.

Unless one of them is somehow getting a scroll for it as random treasure... *shrug*

But there are no other NPC's in elysia that I know of that have enough levels in wizard or sorcerer to cast time stop.

as i stated earlier as well, i don't think the issue is with a NCP using timestop....

last nights chain of events would not make any sense if that was the case...

could there be something else somehow triggering a timestop event?
