Yeeeehaaaah! Lord of the Pit eat that sucka!
Forgive the gloat..but on my third attempt, over the course of a year and a half, I finally kicked that bastards butt, despite him totally ignoring the gentlemans agreement and downing 17 heal potions! One of my long time Avlis ambitions finally achieved...all thats left now is...

Always consider alignment as a tool, not a straitjacket that restricts the character.

Haven't been to them since the TNanshi army raided them some years ago..must pay another visit sometime soon...Have they gotten harder or easier? The revamped LRC is also on my tourist list, as thats been out of bounds to me for the last 2 years...I only ever peeked in there once before anyway, and was made a pincushion by the jolly old death archers.

*scene a Lord of the Pit laying on a very large slab of grantite*
*Little gnome wizard type moving around him, body pieces and parts being seen thrown away, and parts being taken from various bags and large buckets.*
"There that is that last of the upgrades" *wipes his brow with bloody hands.
*The gnome wizard turns, smiles and says*
"Y'all come back ya hear"
*Sounds of manical laughter is heard echoing around the caves*

I've only been twice because it is so dangerous and it takes a long time to get there but on the second trip I was with a very capable group and we got slaughtered on the second level. My SR buffs are so high the Shaman pose no problems but melee... ugh.. the melee. Even Thorfinn was having difficulty hitting them on the second level so I was resorting to Divine Power which doesn't last that long. Then Thorfinn dropped and I knew I was in trouble. Veterans and Brawlers surrounded me and tore us to shreds.Arandil wrote:Haven't been to them since the TNanshi army raided them some years ago..must pay another visit sometime soon...Have they gotten harder or easier?
I love the place for its sheer nastiness... if a party of Epics get slaughtered so easily you know it's bad. The Orc Caves are kind of the final frontier for Celedor. The only other non DM spawn that I can recall that is similarly scary are Dranuhl's High Guards.
Want me to invite General Quicksilver to our next trip to the Caves?

Drahnuls High Guards are indeed very nasty, went up against a pair of them the other week and only just beat them. Still trying to figure out what their weakness is, if they have one. I wouldn't mind a trip to the orc caves, but I've no idea when I'll get the time. Fun place though..is it the toughest dungeon on Avlis?

I'd have to vote yes. Admittedly, I haven't been very far into the new LRC yet, and some say the 'Boss' NPC's there are flat-out deadly. The two times I've been there, the big guys had already been killed.Arandil wrote:Drahnuls High Guards are indeed very nasty, went up against a pair of them the other week and only just beat them. Congrats on the Lord of the Pit! That is one place where you don't want to die while soloing! Been there, done that. Miserable Naked Mile(s)!

I suspect they can be turned quite easliyArandil wrote:Drahnuls High Guards are indeed very nasty, went up against a pair of them the other week and only just beat them. And where are these Orc Caves I keep hearing so much about

So many places in Avlis I just haven't been, e.g. Rift Temple, because I usually have to log off before we get anywhere

Personally, I'd like to give those cheating, HiPSing Salt Clan folk a good smacking ... they deserve it!

I tend to judge the npc monsters difficulty based upon whether or not I can hit them. With a high level pure fighter that is fully buffed (this just means he has a decent AB), if he has a hard time hitting something or can't at all, then I know its going to be a good fight.. or a slaughter.Tharliss wrote:I'd have to vote yes. Another good judge is the damage dealt. If I hit a monster for 30-40 hp shots, but he's returning 100+ shots... then.. well.. ouch.
LRC is a good place especially the main npc bosses. I'd still have to vote the Orc Caves as one of the toughest overall places I've been. Everything there is nasty and hits hard. I'd also have to vote "The Deep" as another difficult place.. not totally because of the difficulty factor (although it is difficult), but for the wear-you-down factor and the sheer endurance you need for it. I mean, with a party of 12, we were in there for almost 6 straight hours and no sense of the bottom whatsoever.

Oh that sounds like fun, do you need a henchman? My main would be more than willing. of course if you got too powerful he might also stick an arrow between your eyesMasterChamber wrote:My main has a small goal, noble in nature..

I don't have a high enough count to be a meta-poster so don't even accuse me of it
