Healing Kit Inventory Icon Location

Post by Czarcasm » Sat Feb 19, 2005 9:32 pm

I found the base healing kit from NWN, but the one when I play Avlis looks different and I can't seem to find it in any of the haks. The base one has the red cross in it, while the Avlis one only has a blank white circle. Does anyone know where this is located?

The standard icon for the healing kit is the one Avlis use, the icon is called iit_medkit and there is only one of them, nothing with a red cross on it. I couldn't find anything when making an item using the avlis (+cep) haks that had an icon with a red cross.

The small, medium, large and tiny items also don't have such an icon. Perhaps the craft baseitem type but haven't looked into those.

Perhaps you found such an item somewhere else.

Quite strange. The picture you see in this post is a JPG of the TGA file I extraced from texture_01.bif in my data directory. It was labeled iit_medkit_001.tga

The one you're talking about does, indeed, appear whenever I play the game, though I thought I remember the one with the red crosss at some time... In what file is the iit_medkit, you are speaking of, located? Also...I'm a new to making inventory icons, but I've read references of the small, medium, large, and tiny icons, but can't find the locations of those files either. I've tried searching for such information, but everyone references the custom content guide, which is also vague and isn't very helpful on this subject. Thanks for your help!

The red cross in the center was overriden a LONG time ago by BioWare. I believe they did this in the override, but I can't be sure.

I don't know the reasons behind the change, but rumors abound, including one claiming the Red Cross asked it removed.

Thanks for clearing it up. I'll keep looking for the override, then.

I believe it was in the override at first, but with a later update, the replacement no longer required the override file.

 You would really really have to hope that the Red Cross have better things to do with their time than complaining about the symbols on healing kits in NWN!!!!!

Next they will demanding to be allowed to reopen the Blandenberg Hospital! Watchout you healers of Cha'Reth the Red Cross are stepping on your turf..........

DOUG!!!! Have you looked at the ones I sent you ages ago yet?!

(I sent Doug 12 different coloured ones so that the different + kits could have a different icon).
