Cleric Casting Straight from Spellbook -- Possible?

Post by Red » Wed Dec 22, 2004 9:05 pm

Is there any way to cast a Cleric spell directly from the spellbook, or are the Quick Menu and the Radial Menu the only options?

Pretty much, I think. You could just drag a spell into the quickslot and cast it from the quickslot... but I don't think that really is the answer you're looking for...

Nope, that's what I meant when I mistakenly called it the "Quick menu." I was afraid that was the answer.

Thanks though.

The only "spells" clerics can cast without preparation are the basic healing spells (up to cure critical wounds) for which you can spend another "spell" of the same level.
In PnP that's only for good clerics. Evil ones got the cause wounds spells instead. Not really sure about NWN though. Haven't played an evil cleric yet.

Cleric can cast Cure and Cause XXXX wounds spells without memorising them.

I know its tough to find enough quickslots for all your spells. As a cleric a lot of your spells will be self buffs so just cast those off the radial menu and put the ones you actually might need to cast in combat into quickslots. Of course its easier to remember ones that are quickslotted. As you go up in levels though, you have to just make the tough decision which ones need to occupy your limited quickslots.

That's a good idea. Right now most of my Quickslots are filled with self-buffs that last hours. Looks like I need to make some adjustments.

That's the problem I am beginning to run into. Although it's not really a terrible problem to have.

Geez, must be tough for you casters. I've got exactly 15 of my 36 quickslots filled, and 3 of those are a sequence of emotes! Maybe I need to find more potions to put in my quickslots...

*goes off in search of random potions to drink*

Damn. I've got 24 filled. 5 of which are various belts, and twelve are favoured speech. Got to remember not to become a mage now :P

I cast all buffs with a duration shorter than 1 hour/level through the radial menu. There isn't enough quickslots otherwise.

That's the way to go. I do my 1st and 2nd level personal buffs on radial.

092988, 092989, 09269, 09266, 09263, 09662, 09661. Blindfolded and drunk I can wing that, now it saves me 7 slots.

I fill the shit out of my quickslots.

I have all three banks full now. I actualy have to decide not to use buffs because I run out of slots. I only memorize one spell per lvl to use so that I do not run out of slots.

I have like one slot left on all three bars. and I fill that one up sometimes.

That is my opinion, not nessasarily anyone else's opinon, might just be, but that would be a coincodence, and damnit, sometimes the crap I write is not even my opinion either.
