Taking an XP hit from death

Moderator: Event DM

I would rather:

Do the death quest whereever rather than loose XP whatever
41
47%
Happily loose the XP as the run is perceived to be too far on wilderness/deglos
21
24%
Do death quest on Mikona/Elysia whatever as the naked run appears shorter
12
14%
Have a harder death penalty it's not hard enough

16%

Unless you have a very bad luck... my record - 23 minutes... :S
Some of us are born with good luck, some with no luck, and then there are folks like Isengrim.

That is my opinion, not nessasarily anyone else's opinon, might just be, but that would be a coincodence, and damnit, sometimes the crap I write is not even my opinion either.

I refuse to do the death quests unless no one is around who can raise me.

To me the entire concept of the naked mile and death quests is entirely OOC. It just seems way too cheesy to be able to just hop out of death , run to your body and pop an invis potion or cast invis to recover your gear and continue where you left off like nothing happened.

IMHO death in general is way to soft and needs to mean more to the PC's than it currently does.

Agreed. People really dont seem to care about dying or even act bothered when they return. I watch people die, come back, die, come back, and people dont seem to care. Just seems like the respawning in an FPS....

I have to agree with you two. Wholeheartedly. Doesn't stop me from doing the naked mile, though. *ahem*

Yeah, some of the Crew had the misfortune of seeing it a couple times. A few of them still have sunspots on their eyes.

Is there any chance that the team will make death harder? I don't thibnk so... :(

But.. I'll keep trying. :P

[shout]
Make the XP part harder! It should be difficult!
Make Raise Dead and Ressurect a good thing again! I hate when using a Raise is something considered griefing!
Add the portal to come back from death without getting the XP back! Do you want to save time, forget the XP.
Make it possible to make the death quest and be raised after that!

Two different things! The death quest and raise! Make them different things!
Raise / ressurect is about getting to your body!
Death Quest is about XP!
[/shout]

One day you will listen! ;)

Please?!
Cheers.

I think any and all sunspots have been erased and replaced by willing blindness after looking at the Hoff for too long ;)

Why doesn't anyone listen to Drysh? He is a wise man! :D

Seriously, I agree with his ideas. Excellent solutions IMHO.

I try not to die that often as I hate it. It does mean somethin if you don't get casual about it by dying every other day. Normally I'll do the quest if my body is close or accessible but the last 2 times were -
1) in the deeps of Deglos with a crowd of creatures some of which had true seeing that I couldnt possibly have got my gear back from. I was gratefull for the raise and to hell with 1000xp.
2) In the orc caves of Ferrell that I could conceivebly have got my gear back from after a long trek but it would have been very hard. I'd died due to crashing out (damn HIPS npc's confuse my computer) and logged back in bleeding, nowhere near the surviving party member. The server was a bit unstable for me to risk the long run so again I took the raise. Had to wait ages for that too as the party' sole survivor was barely able to reach me.

Certainly if your with a party or on a DM quest you shouldnt expect everyone else to wait around for you to do a long run. Never known that to be an issue in Mikona or M'check mind. You're always close to your body. Elysia too except for the bottom of the spider caves.

I like the idea of raise giving back partial exp so its not seen as such a bad thing. Im not really sure one way or the other if your death quest not giving back full exp is a good idea.

A choice of respawn points for Deglos and the wilderness would be nice. Its a long way, especially for those who dont know the best routes.
