I had thought that UMD would'nt have any effect of Align Res gear, at least you'd think that, right?

UMD is one of my favorite skills. I keep it maxed out and am only sorry that SD's do not get it. You can emulate class, alignment, race and level with UMD.

One Hit One is only a 2D6 Massive critical rapier. This is not the greatest weapon because it does not get past basic DR. If it was masterwork it would be worth it for lower levels.

Our custom UMD system only affects spells cast from certain items (scrolls, wands and staves). The UMD check for whether or not you can equip an item is hard-coded by Bioware.

I keep hearing that Sand doesnt feel he's had a good day out unless every member of the party dies. He only managed to get me killed once though and that was ages ago. Must be settling down

You can use that friggin rapier with just UMD 5. Bear in mind that it is your final UMD score what matters, not the number of ranks you have. So if you are playing the typical rogue who "keeps a low profile" (a fancy way of saying CHA 8, hah) you'll need 6 ranks in UMD.

Also, the UMD custom system used in Avlis doesn't affect items, just scrolls.
