Massive Criticals?

Post by Paul » Mon Oct 18, 2004 8:36 pm

What does it mean when a weapon has a massive criticals modifier?

For example, a short bow with a critical threat range of x3 and a massive critical of two dmg. Does this mean that two damage is added to the x3 or is two added to the initial damage and then multiplied by three?

And, I'm I correct in assuming that the multiplier means, upon scoring a crit, damage is rolled three times, not multiplied by three?

Thanks

x3 means base damage is multiplied by three. The Massive Criticals +2 means two is added to the final tally. Example. You swing and hit for a critcal, rolling 6 for damage. You actaully inflict 20hp damage.

Yeah, the damage isn't multiplied but rolled several times instead.

Is +2 really added only to the final tally? Massive crit is pretty weak if that's the case. Sure it's not added to each individual d_ in the multiplier?

Yeah, two extra damage is better than nothing but I'd hardly call that "massive" :D

Ive seen bows with 2d6 massive crit out there. Thats not weak.

Massive crit of 2 damage thats on one of the crafted items is just a little extra bonus on top of the other features.

"One Hit One Kill" is a rapier that also has quite a bit of critical damage. I do not recall how much exactly but it is like 3D6 or so.

2d6, no other properties, and only useable by evil. Costs only 3k, can buy it from a merchant :D
