AC an custom characters

Post by begnar » Fri Oct 01, 2004 3:32 pm

Character : Half ogre
Class : Barbarian 9 / Fighter 2

Dex Base : 16 --> Mod --> +3

Armor : Mithral Splint armor, base 6Ac, max dex+1,+4 ac armor modifier

other AC-increasing items : Only Ammy natural armor +2.

Si i think i should get 6base + 1dex + 4 Bonus =11 by wearing my armor

It only adds 9 --> Where did i make the mistake while calculating ?

So the Mithril Splint Armor has an enhancement bonus of +4?

Actually, I'm just gonna move this thread to general discussion. It's not actually an ask the Team question. Anyone might have an answer for this.

Max Dex of one on armor is going to subtract two from from your +3 dex mod. Not give you an extra point.

Think that is the problem.

Ok, the Mithral Splint Mail is a Bioware palette item so I took a look at it. From what you said, you should have an AC of 10 + 6 + 4 +1 +2 = 23 If you have an AC of 19, the only thing I can guess is that you are getting a -4 penalty to AC from some other source.

When you rage, you get -2 to AC. So that explains that. :-P

Oh, and as an Ogre, you get a -1 to AC because of your size (not wearing armor, your AC should be 12). This is true in PnP, I don't know if it's true in NWN or not.

the size bonus arent shown on the charscreen, because that depends on the enemy you are fighting. My halfling gets a bonus when he fights humans, but not when he fights mice...

If it's anything like PnP, the size bonuses should be shown on the charscreen, and have absolutely nothing to do with the size of the enemy you're fighting. Sure, the relative bonus/penalty changes, but the raw numbers are constant.

Your halfling gets +1 to AC and +1 to hit. A mouse, if it's small, also gets +1 to AC and +1 to hit. Meaning the bonuses cancel each other out. If it were tiny, it'd get +2 to AC and +2 to hit, so relative to you, it'd have a +1 AC and +1 to hit; that doesn't, however, change what the raw number is.

That is, if it's anything like PnP. And I think it'd be weird to program a script to check size when you could do it much more simply by just giving bonuses/penalties based on size.
