*EEK!* My Character Got slaughtered bySpiders!

Post by -v-v-FANG-v-v- » Tue Jul 13, 2004 9:29 pm

Hi.

*EEK!* My character died again. (I think this is the third tiime already. It's been quite a while since the last one though) This can't be good at all.
I was in T'Nanshi Woods, feeling a bit lost, and suddenly......
a couple of ugly spiders turned up from out of nowhere, and jumped her from behind, stabbing poisons in her, and then taking her life. :-(

After coming fom my death plane, I tried to wander back to where my corpse was, but there was a server reset, so I've probably lost them all now. :-(

Erm.... okay, well, this probably means I will have to start again, go in search of new items, equipment e.t.c.
Ahh well..... If that's what I have to do for my character, then....
okay, I will try and rebuild her life again.

My regards.......

If the server went down before you could return to your body, everything will be returned to you when you next login.

The only exception to this is if somebody looted something before the crash.

Or if you have non pallette items, like items from other CoPaP worlds.

That as well, but either way, its still better than losing everything.

Unless you did actually lose everything.... which would suck...

If you lost EVERYTHING due to server reset, you can ask for a character restore (there's a particular thread for that). Be careful however! I learned this the hard way: your character is restored from the last character save. So, if you've recently gained a lot of experience, you may lose it. Ask yourself what's more important, the experience you recently gained, or the items you lost. What I don't know is how often your character gets saved (perhaps whenever you log off???), but I now use the emote wand to "save location" quite often.

Hi again.

Well, when my character was killed, it happened in an area where you wouldn't really get a lot of players passing through everyday, (well maybe 1, but that's about it really) so I kind of thought that the minute after my char was killed, there wasn't really a lot of time between that, and a server reset. Well, I had the time for her to go to her death plane, and do a small quest, before making her way back to the surface again, and when she did, I think it was about 15-20 mins before the server reset.

So, if it's possible that no one came along in that time, and stole all my equipment, then I'd be all the more happy for it.

Speaking of which......
My character is only at lvl 3 at the moment, and she gained some really good stuff so far, including Full Plate Armour, and an axe with a +1 attack bonus, and sonic damage, both of which was generously given to her.
There were other stuff too, but those I just mentioned, were the most important to me..... well at least for a lvl 3 player anyhow.

If I had to choose between losing some of my XP, and losing my items, I'd choose to lose XP instead, because I find that if you get your items lost, or they are stolen, there maybe some which you will never be able to get back again, especially if they are really important items, like the ones I mentioned.

I think my only hope now, is that when my character returns back to where she surfaced, that she gains all her equipment again.
That's probably what I'll have to do. Otherwise, I'll just have to try and rebuild her life somehow.

My regards......

P.S. - My last character save, (using the Emote Wand) was when I still had all my items, and no change in my XP, so maybe things might turn out okay. I don't really know untill I get back in the game again.

Um.

Nothing you mentioned is exactly irreplaceable. Tell you what... just play the character, and ask around about it. Most people will be willing to help replace your gear (you might even score some better stuff!), even if it's OOC.

You set up a time and place to meet my character, I have a Ring of Protection +2 for ya. Even though it'd be horribly horribly OOC.

Play around and mention you lost everything, usually some kind character gives you some of their surplus, which in your case is probably at least as good as you had.
Lady Divinia Cecil, Combat Medic; Frederique Moriana, Dragon Avalanche; Amber, redhead Bandit Mascotte; Khaelindra, Mystic Archer

Hi there.

Thank you very much for your kind offer, I really appreciate it too, but to be honest, all I really would like, is for my character to have her equipment back, those she had before she died.

I've gained some really useful stuff, and I just could NOT live without this little lot :

Full Plate Armour
Amulet Of Natural Armour +1
Large Shield +1 (I think there was a +1 of something in there, as far as I can remember)
Axe - with sonic damage, and IIRC, Mighty +1
A Longbow, and some arrows to go with it.

Those to me, are the most important, for a 3rd level player like myself.

My only hope now, is that all, or most of my stuff will turn up back in my Inventory again, the next time I enter the server.
Otherwise, I could just ask around, and hope someone will help me out with some new equipment and weapons e.t.c

My regards.......
:)

Find Divinia, she has a full set of replacement gear for you. If you don't mind an amulet +2 instead of +1 that is...

Ahh! I feel much happier now. :-)
I went back to the server again earlier, and...... 'HEY PRESTO!'
All my gear was safely returned to my Inventory again. (automatically)
I've never felt happier! Heh heh. (well, in Avlis anyway)

I don't suppose I could ask for that Amulet +2 now could I? Heh heh.
Nah, that would be too cheaky of me, now that I have my stuff back.
So, I was only joking really.

I think an Amulet +1 should keep me happy enough for now.
:-)
