ok i need help before i smash my pc to tiny tiny bits

Unable to authenticate original disk within time limit .

What the hell is this and why cant i play

and before you ask yes it the original cd no the cdrom works fine on anything else i try please if anyone can help do so
ive been screweing with this thing for about three hours

Have you tryed to reinstall the game and if you did then it might mean that someone else might be using the CD key.

Yep I had this problem, been playing with my original disks for a year all fine then oneday, the crappy security software decided to get smart.

I got around it by getting a 1.62 no cd crack. It works fine now and no more burnt out cd drives from my Avlis addiction

Simple answer:
The version of Securom in the 1.62 version of NWN, SUCKS!
Its half broken and Atari never should have forced it on NWN.
It claims that you have emulation software running EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T! (just as Strangg).

And the CD auth timing out seems to degrade over time.
When I first patched, it happened rarely... now it happens so frequently that I want to pulverize the person responsible for deciding that NWN had to have the latest Securom. This was an Atari decision, NOT BioWare. Even BioWare recognizes it sucks.

Will have to update the crack when it comes out but it will get done by some clever person I am sure, maybe they will fix the security program with the update *fingers crossed*
