Mehhhh.... didn't even know you could change armour etc. in combat - just weapons! Does sound a bit daft that in the middle of a deadly battle you could just drop your old light armor and put on the shiny half-plate whilst simultaneously fending off a bunch of orcs. I hope it does get taken care of. Weapons, on the other hand, should be changeable as at present. A typical fighting tactic is to have a bow equipped, take a few shots whilst the enemy closes, and than whip out the melee stuff ready for their arrival - realistic too.. Just my view.

I'm pretty sure you can't change armor (at least I can't - it says "you can't change armor whilst in combat"). I think the concern is more to do with people changing things like "Greater Belts", and amulets, rings, helmets, etc. that give protection or resistance to specific damage types or spells.

Actually, I would go futher to say, that the problem is quite small because:
a) it is mainly concerning "Greater Belts" in my view (and maybe just a few items that offer specific spell / effect immunity)
b) most folk don't even have 1 Greater belt, let alone a complete set that would enable you to select the best one!

So, in my view this problem is only affecting the "epic" characters (that's epic with a small "e")... most of whom should know better.

Scripting to avoid this is a waste of time in my view.

What about there's a chance a PC will crap their pants when they switch weapon mid-combat?

I say fine, as long as they then get 1d6 gas attack added to their melee.

I'm with Dirk. There are many better things that the team could put time into scripting then this.

And Dirk is right, you cannot change armor mid combat. NWN tells you to fuck off when you try. No not literally, but that'd be cool.

You can't change armor, however you CAN change rings, belts necklaces, boots, gloves/bracers, weapons, shields, cloaks and helms.

I see nor problem with implimenting some sort fo system that gives some srt fo penalty for switching out wearables. It does get abused a bit, and is in line with standard 3e rules. I've been on a few servers that have time constraints coded into equipping armor, you can stop equpping for an AC penatly however, and doing such things in combat is impossible. I think it is mroe than fair to make a person flat footed if they are rummaging around in their backpack grabing a belt, taking off the odl one and then equipping the new one, it only makes sense.
Fighters do it face to face, Rogues may do it from behind, Rangers can do it from a distance, Wizards do it from out of nowhere, Clerics may not do it at all, Barbarians may do it in a rage, Sorcerers can do it on a whim, Bards on a note, but Paladins have to pay for it!
