Returning from the Dead

Yeah it's me again. Man o man. lol. Just wondering why the clubs I receive in the grey wastes of Hades are ineffective as soon as the tortured souls attack me. I know this is the only way to return but how do you return if you cannot complete your death quest because no damage can be taken?

The souls should not attack you. I was just there two nights ago and got a club and beat the shit out of a soul and then teleported out. Can you give more info?

Errr... which server was this on? The tortured souls should not have any damage resistance any more, and the clubs should work fine to kill them.

They attack alright.
I died yesterday in Elysia (20.00-22.00 GMT+1, not really sure when) and they came at me in hoards - at least 10-15 souls against my poor 4th level sorceress.
Thankfully ghostly visage worked to keep me on my feet but they beat me down once before I killed enough of them.
The club worked fine though, only I suck at hitting anything with it so it took forever to get out and I was on my last protection spell.

Sometimes they attack and other times they dont on the same server on the same day. Elysia and Mikona and Wilderness.
How do you know how many you have to kill? And do they have to be killed by the club on your own? Makes it hard for Wizardly tyoes to get out.
