IMMINENT FORUM MOVE - PLEASE HELP US TEST

Post by spool32 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:25 pm

Yep, all caps and everything! We are moving the forums to a new host starting on Monday, July 6th. It will probably take most of a day to migrate all the data. In the meantime, we need people to visit our test site and see if they can help us find things we missed:

http://www.foiginc.org

You should be able to log into this copy of the forums (about 3 weeks old) and do everything you normally can do. Please test things, look at the themes, poke around, post, send PMs, and so forth. If we've missed any functionality we'd like to fix it before the move rather than after.

A few rules about using this test forum:

Please don't post crafting recipes
Please don't post secret information in public.
These forums are not official and we'll be deleting them on Monday during the migration.

Post your errors here and be as descriptive as you can. Thanks for your help!

On the Portal page, I see no other Donation link than the PayPal. Is this expected? :)

I will not take, I will have.

Yes, the portal version is from before we fixed the buttons. Please don't donate from there! It might even point to Blackparadox. :)
Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Ok, the posting thing is fixed *Shakes fist at sql schema issue*

The missing smilies are back *forgets to upload the .gif files*

The donation links are now updated to match what we currently have

The server status may not likely go in on the initial move. It was actually broken since we moved to the new beastly server. It was only fixed just recently (maybe a few weeks ago). It may be added back in later but will likely not end up on the initial move. There are a couple of minor changes to the main portal page layout. A couple unneeded things were dropped and the donation moved around to compensate. The biggest thing we're trying to do is get everything up and working and get the hell away from the 500 errors as well as the slow site.

Basically, when we move it will be new hosting, fresh installs of the forum with the latest version and portal. Please continue to poke around for broken functionality or anything if you get a chance. And note the speed too! Please say its a hell of a lot faster!

There is some text errors in the application page and the info is grossly out of date.

fyi.. The test forum might be flakey or offline for the next 5-6 hours while it is reindexing in an effort to test some search fixes.
