Strength of the Land
Does the magic damage that's added to attack damage from Strength of the Land stack with existing magic damage on a weapon?

Re: Strength of the Land
In my opinion it depends, it stacked when someone casted it on the weapon, as Psionic Strength of the Land, is an additional damage from the person and not on the weapon.
ex. Flame weapon (fire) and DarkFire (fire) spell don't stack, as it is casted on the weapon.
this lead me to think that.. a sonic Flame weapon stack with Fire DarkFire?
.. got to test this

No they don't stack. The older spell will be replaced with the newer.BeyondInfinity wrote:In my opinion it depends, it stacked when someone casted it on the weapon, as Psionic Strength of the Land, is an additional damage from the person and not on the weapon.

Sephira: I'd need to test it to be positive, but I'm about 90% sure it won't stack. Why? 2 magic damage and 5 magic damage (examples) don't stack, the 5 supersedes the 2 damage, so only 5 is done, not 7. I do not see why this would be different in any other case such as yours.
*notes that he does not usually like "possible" answers from the team, but this is more of a NWN question than a Team, and if it goes unanswered I'll move it to NWN gen*

Re: Strength of the Land
the character sheet shows after strength of the land:
sword of derrington keep
+ 2 slashing damage
+ 3 magical damage
When tested in combat the only additional damage shown was the +3, but the slashing damage is never shown as additional (I tested it without SoL and it was only showing a total number for physical damage) so I have no idea.
Is there a way to have the in game log showing each separate component of physical damage?

Re: Strength of the Land
I originally assumed as Darkfire and Stravento do, but I've gotten replies from two other psion players (nwmblondy and Anomandari) that confirm that it stacks. Can this be confirmed? I'm not really very well read on the mechanics of Strength of the Land, the description doesn't specify that the damage is implemented as magical.

Re: Strength of the Land
Well everyone else has answered so I'll pipe in as this will probably get moved anyway.
Magical damage has always stacked for me, the 2 magical damage from battletide adds to stength of the land giving you 5 damage, but this damage is on the character not the weapon. So you get it regardless of the weapon your holding or if your unarmed, which is why I am fairly sure it will stack, though I've nevcer tried it.
Its simular to divine damage, if you have a weapon with divine damage and then use divine might, the divine might is on the character, not the weapon, so again they stack.
If you use Divine Might and Divine Wrath, those also stack. (though admitedly Ive only tried that on offline modules)

Re: Strength of the Land
Magic is the generic damage used when nothing else is specified, which is why barbarians had +magic damage to their rage at some point. Nob said that once, I think. I'm not sure if Strength of the Land falls under that category though. However, if it does, now you know why!

Re: Strength of the Land
Damage applied to the character will always stack with damage applied to the character and damage applied to a weapon.
The only damage types that don't stack is when you apply the same damage type to a weapon twice.
