NWN install question

hey just got a new computer, and the first thing i tried to do after installing NWN was the crit rebuild. i have version 1.66 installed, and i wanted the 1.69 i think. i downloaded the thingie, and tried to run it, but it said i couldn't do it with my current version. do i have to update to 1.68 first or something?

after i figure this out, it's hak downloading time. that's always a fun thing. see you IG soon i hope!

Yes, try the NWN updater first and see how you get on.

so the update button does not work, and the 1.69 patch doesn't want to install.

so to be clear, i should get the 1.68 and install that before the 1.69?

where can one find the old 1.68 patch? i see abunch of REVERT patches from 1.69 to 1.68 on the nwn site, but i don't think that'swhat i want. this is confusing me. why doesn't the 1.69 patch work for me?

is there a NWN service out there that comes to your house to set it up? kinda like the geeksquad? i need them

Without wanting to be rude it told you that you needed to get the Critical Rebuild in the text you posted and gave you the link to follow to get this. Click on the link in your second post, it is a large file (as it contains everything) but will take your NWN to 1.69 (or at least it worked for me when I had to reinstall NWN and the update button was not working)

the update button didn't work. i followed the link and downloaded the 1.69 patch. i get an error message when trying to run said patch. something along the lines of "this will not work with your version" i was trying to run the patch from my desktop, so i thought moving it into the NWN install directory would help, so i moved it and ran it from there. still nothing.


here's a thought, could I just copy everything in the NWN directory of my old computer onto a flash drive and then copy it onto my new computer? would that work?


i dunno, i think my next step is uninstall and try it all over. redownload the patch in case that's screwy too...

I did this, works fine.

Either copy you old folder and over right all those files or do the crit rebuild not the 1.69 patch, they are two different things. I've had to reinstall a couple of times within the last few months - the rebuild works fine for me.

yeah, that did the trick. i think it might be faster than downloading all the haks too.
