I have to admit, I'm not really up on the history of D&D, so when I saw this I had no idea who Arneson was till I did some reading..The first time I ever really heard of the game was as a kid when I saw Tom Snyder interview Gygax on his original "Tommorrow" show right after The Tonight Show with Johny Carson ( yep I'm old).
Kudos and fond farewell to a guy who had a part in starting this goofy hobby we have and love in all it's various forms.
Massawyrm over at AICN also did a piece on him here http://www.aintitcool.com/ ( but the headline they have about him failing his save against cancer seems kinda distasteful and disrespectful) as well as the folks over at scifi wire http://scifiwire.com/2009/04/dungeons-d ... ve-arn.php

Adios Dave...
I met him through a mutual friend in the early 80's, gamed with him a few times, he was still bitter at the feud between he and Gygax. And though I never heard Gary's side of the story, there was defrinately something real about Daves side that rang of truth and sincerity. Im glad they patched it up in the end.. He was the first admitted Warlock I had ever met And though he had served in Nam about the same time, his scarring from the Phoenix program was haunting.

Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.
