New level...

Post by Missian » Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:46 pm

ooc:

hello and hi...

I have a question... Rye just leveled to level 17 he now is a level 5 bard level 8 rogue and a level 4 shadowdancer....

I have two questions realy...

one didn't a shadowdancer level 4 get a shadowjump..?

and

two, did Rye have a xp penalty befor he turned level 17 and got a shadowdancers level, because I was hoping I wouldn't have the penalty any more now...
he is a halfling so the Rogue level doesn't work with the penalty.. but what about the shadowdancers levels..? do I need to keep em one level apart from the bard levels.. to not get a penalty how does this work..?

I am hoping some of you can help me...

with reguards..

PrC's (including psionics) aren't counted where xp penalties are concerned. The only drop you'll find in xp will be the calculated CR difference by progressing from 16th to 17th level

No, you didn't have an xp penalty before leveling. 2 Levels difference between classes is ok. Rogue doesn't count into the calculation since it's a halflings favoured class.

(So 8/5/3 doesn't have an XP penalty, 8/5/2 would though).

As one of your 3 classes is favoured and another is a prc, it is in fact impossible for your character to ever get an xp penalty. So you can stop worrying about it and level in any class you please :)

1). The Shadow Jump feat is added on login. If you level up and then relog, you get shadow jump.

2). You have three classes: bard, rogue, shadow dancer. Shadow dancer doesn't count because it's a prestige class. Rogue doesn't count because it's a halfling's favoured class (which you are, if I'm not mistaken). The only class which therefore counts is "bard," so you have no xp penalty.

Unless Avlis has a structural change in the XP-penalty determination, this statement is incorrect, as in standard NWN you get an XP-penalty when there's more than one (1) level difference. So core NWN mechanics: 5/3 is XP-penalty, 5/4 is not (in case of two non-preferred, non-PrC classes).

This is correct. I always thought it was 2 levels but the NWN manual does say 1.

With Rye haveing Bard Rogue and Shadowdancer levels as he does he doesn't have to worry about any penalty.. no matter what the levels..?
