Ooh... thx for the quick reply. Tho my little murderous monk isn't a few days old, it's almost 6 months. (probably more than 6 months old), and she's 5 rogue/ 2 monk. Now I don't know if that's average speed for leveling in Avlis or below average, but she's weak, and will probably still be weak for months to come. I've been playing a character who wants to kill but wise enough to know that she can't (uh... wise enough most of the time), so suppressing urge to kill the next ugly man she sees. It gets kind of boring after a while, (you try playing the role of a murderous rogue who can't actually kill anyone but herself.) If I was really in the role of the character, she would be completely insane by now and would be running around with no clothings (lost everything via deaths) and punching the next man she sees and then die and respawn and keep doing it forever. <-- not fun, and I would be banned by now for sure.

At least with the barbarian character, I can do more socializing without falling out of the role of the character. :P

Sorry - with two posts total I got the impression you were new. My mistake. I have to stop assuming level of participation in the boards equals level of participation in the game. I apologize.

It takes an artist to make a paladin kill that commoner for you
And it takes an exceptionally devious Chaotic character to convince a paladin to help out in administering some impromptu vigilante justice, with complete disregard for the law. The best part is, there was an inquiry, and I helped clear my "accomplice" of any wrongdoing, though I knew IC and OOC that he broke the laws he was supposed to uphold. I'm still damned proud of that, and nobody even knows about it.

Hmmm need some feedback on this:

How is the information presented in the game screen trreated?

Specifically, if it shows a party member as fighting/wounded/dead, is it, or is it not ok to act on that information?

Generally speaking: If the team member is in the same area, you can see/hear him and act on it. If he is in a completely different area, you couldn't possibly know.

Of course this is only generally speaking, it's just a guideline. Just try to keep the situation as realistic as possible, your characters have no cell-phones or walky-talkies; if you can't get the info IC, you shouldn't act on it.

And remember, if your partymember is far away from you, you should ask yourself if it is accurate for you guys to form a party anyway.
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.

Looking at Orl's first post here might it pay for it to be updated a little to reflect the gentleman's agreement?
It doesn't hurt to bump these things once in a while anyhow, especially the rule about logging to avoid death.
