Contact a soldier of the army you wish to join. They will easily fill you in and find you the uniform.

There are no requierements other than to swear loyalty to that nation and kill the other one :D

Yes, there are baracks, but as far as I know, they are rarely used.

Best way is to find a soldier is to just ask around in game. Someone is bound to know one that can help you or even one can be there. You can also ask on the IC board of that nation to meet up with a soldier.

As to the level.... I joined at lvl 10, some joined at much higher level, some at much lower. If you go alone, obviously you will be killed, hell, I still get my butt handed to me when I am alone :)
But if you attack with your soldiers, as a unit (which happens very often as far as I know) no matter your level, if you do well, things will go well....
But, no matter what's your level, you are bound to die, no matter what :)

heh, it's not about the fact if you're going to die or not, it's a lot of fun to RP. But most importantly, think hard before you decide to join. It will change your character...

I joined at level... 6 I think, and it was the first thing I did when I joined Avlis :) So far, it has been great fun! I'd recomend it ;) Except the M'Chekian army. They're a bad influence ;) kidding!

I joined at lvl16 or 17 ( can't remember ), which was rather late at the time ( 1.5 years ago!! ), and haven't looked back since. I found it gave my PC a great focus, but it's not for everyone, I think about 10-20% of people who join up actually stick around. But you're likely to make some of your best in-game friends within those 10-20%.

Besides, sometimes you get great DM's to make army related quests, or help you with your missions / patrols !

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does... it's just incredibly fun, even if you're on the losing side :)

One thing people seem to forget is they are required to undertake certain duties as a country's soldier and this also has certain restrictions on them.

Remember your becoming a soldier, not a privateer, bandit, robin hood character, John Wayne clone, anti hero or renegade general who does it all his own way.

Sometimes it is boring, sometimes you have to do things you don't like or agree with (within the moral limits of your character of course) and then there are no benefits apart from food and lodgings. No pay! You ...errr...do it fo love.

But it is great fun and as others have said think carefully, make sure its for you and your character and if it is you will have fun......thats an order!

One piece of advice is if you dont plan on using an alt character, hold off on joining the armies for a little bit so you can do some exploring. When you join the army you'll find your access to some servers will be severly restricted.

Good point their by Glocknal, can't just roam into enemy territory. As for joining at low level, I think my character was level 2 when he joined. I specifically had it in mind to join the army though to fit the story of the character. Their is plenty of things to do as a new recruit than to go out into the front alone. With any character you make you need a good background and for some to have an affiliation with the army while they are not yet experienced fighters is a good thing to see them progress and mature. Most people think 'well, if I join the army I want to make sure I never die so I will join when I can take a few blows'. Pfft! I say to that, all depends on the character. As stated before, no matter what level you are, you can easily die fighting in the army. :P

So if you want to ignore everything I just wrote, the only restriction for joining the army is to have a purpose for that character to join the army. Otherwise you will find the restrictions a pain and grow tired of the whole premise quickly.

I have a few questions:
1)do the armies need scouts or spies?
2)is there an army for elysia?
3)if you answered yes on number 2, who can i contact for more info?

The EDF is the nearest Elysia has to an army. As for "spies", if you mean, can I join the TNanshi army and then go to M'Chek still, the answer is no. Both armies do need scouts though..typically they go point on a patrol looking for elite soldiers of the opposing army ( PCs ).

As far as I know, there is absolutely no way to join the M'Chek army. You should give up on that idea completely and find something else to do with your character... like join the T'Nanshi army! :P

The M'Cheks all wear leiderhosen and go round singing christmas carols at this time of year. Its a silly army. The TNanshis drink whiskey all year round and run naked through the snow. Which do you prefer?

*looks confused* I thought that that the TNanshi army wore leiderhosen, drank fairy wine, and sang lovely flower songs.

That's just propoganda put out by the M'Cheks. Fairy wine is for fairys. The stuff the TNanshis drink makes your hair fall out, just look at Fox.

Honestly, I have to say, if you are going to join an army. Do it as early in lvl as possible.

It is a whole different experience to grow and develope as part of the army. One you do not want to miss.

That is my opinion, not nessasarily anyone else's opinon, might just be, but that would be a coincodence, and damnit, sometimes the crap I write is not even my opinion either.

100% agree as well. I joined at level 3... can't be much greener and hope to survive the wilderness. Growing up in the army makes your appreciate things differently. Going from completely useless to mostly useless gives a unique perspective & incite I think.
