Is th Underdark warmer than above, because it is closer to the molten rock underground, or colder, as there is no sun?
Does it vary with depth?
If so, where is warmer, where is colder, and so on...

Yes, I'd like to know that too... If we take earth as our ref. the temp. would increase by 3° per 100 meters...

"I know what you're thinking. Did she fire 99 arrows or only 98? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being this is a Mahagony Shortbow, the most powerful craftable bow on Avlis, and would blow your head clean off, you got to ask yourself one question... Do I feel lucky. Well, do ya fiend?"

If the underdark of Avlis has anything in common with other underdark style areas, infravision is viewed as a "underdark adaption" - the ability to spot a creature by it's heat. That implies that the area is uniformly cool enough to be useful...
My impression is that the underdark of Faerun was about the temperature of a surface cave - a pretty constant 50 degrees - and before anyone says it, I know this isn't Faerun. Regardless, if I may be geeky enough to quote a reference, RA Salvatore describes an unprepared drow visiting the surface (I will not say his name, dammit) as entirely freaked out by the seasonal temperature variation he found there.
