Is there a certain race that aren't enough of and unbalances

Post by SpitwolF » Tue Aug 24, 2004 8:28 am

I'm a person that likes to be different and don't want to choose a character race that is the same as all the others.

Are there any races that need filling in? I'm looking at this server as a booster in my RP, and to learn more, so I thought it would be good to play a different race.

but not a different class :P Druids are too fun for me.

Any ideas?

There is a poll somewhere on races.... oh here it is :)
viewtopic.php?t=25944&highlight=poll+race

Gnomes come out bottom of the "standard races", but I don't know what the overal stats are like when all the custom races are taken into account.

Centaur druid, maybe? Personally haven't seen more than one or two centaurs around...

Do Centaurs look good? they're the half man half horse aren't they? hhmm.

Are they quite tribal sorta species? I can imagine them not really being the most charismatic heh. Got any reference on them?

thanx for your help.

Centuars seem to be the least used class. Xen has never even seen one and Ex has only ever seen 2....

Problem with centaurs is that they are a static model. That keeps lots of people from wanting to play them.

heh not sure about them then. I'll have a look at them anyway, I might just stick with my half-elf druid. I dunno. Do the DMs mind if I do a few tests?

From how cluttered my servervault folder is, it seems not. :)

Tests are no problem to us. Keep in mind that you can't delete test characters you make though. You're stuck with them for 90 days at the least.

If you want to test character appearance without cluttering the servervault, then test at home. All you need is the copap haks in a mod. Log in as DM and change your appearance with the SetAppearance console command.

I don't know about naturally, but their society is focussed around Aarilax' beliefs, which places ruthless ambition as the most important social value. This tends to foster an attitude and atmosphere which leaves little to no room for kind and gentle people. Evil is definitely the norm for anyone growing up in such a society.

Centaurs

Static model is correct. No visual display of armour, no emotes other than voiceset. Stands up to rest well that is ok. The only difference between two centaurs is the name and voice set. Not sure about any head customisation, and definatly only male.

Oh how popular they would be if a fully dynamic model was availiable.

Although it seems you can overwrite a test character by making a new one with the same name.

Careful - this doesn't always yield the desired results. I've tried that and ended up losing some stuff/time when I either logged out and back in, or portalled to another server. It was a long time ago, don't remember the details. I just remembered to never do it again.

Make test characters with names all starting with the letter "z" - that'll keep them out of the way.

Not enough Gnomes.

Not enough Dwarvish wizards, which seems a shame to me. Don't recall meeting one. Made one myself on Hala but never play him.

Too many wemics, too many elves.

Not enough human druids.

never did like the wemics..

i mean a half orc gets a boost to str(+2) and saccerfice 2 other abilitiles *chrisma and intellegence)

wemic gets +7 Str +1 Dex +1 Con -2 Cha .. i dont really see the part that evens things out..

wemics are a pawergammers friend .. great states.. already start off on a higher level(4) and very little draw back to being one..

/me points out that pure orcs have +3 strength and +1 int and don't have those ECL levels.

Dude... ECL is a penalty :p

You only get your con bonus in HP for those levels, miss the level 3 feat (and level 4 stat, but that's made up for by the obscene +7 thing) ... they are no substitue for real ones :)

Picture, if you will, spawning things that are a good two levels above what you can handle. (not a typo, since three beast levels still add up somewhat :))

*knows for a fact his drow doesn't play like she started at level 3*

Powergamer's friend, no. Fast track to devastating critical, perhaps ;))

Theory aside, maybe it's time to roll one up to see just how obscene they really play. Teehee.
