this is Incredible, but overwhelming

Post by jekyl81 » Fri Mar 12, 2004 8:37 pm

so i have been reading up for a few days about the rules and world information, and find my self overwhelmed by the amount of information i would like to remember, but just cannot seem to make it it sink in just yet, mayby it's because i have played in so many other RP servers that i have so much other world information stuck in my head? just to state the fact from what i have read so far, this seems like a really well made and carefully designed world and i am really looking foward to getting in the game and finding out what the actual world is like, along with the PC:s ofcourse.

I just want to know one thing, if i want to do a spesific quest to obtain a spesific item i want (an item that is none existing in the server, like for example, lets say i have a +1 redcolored Full Plate, and i want to quest to have a +1 red colored Full Plate with Dim red light 15m) can i get a DM to Quest me if i ask a dm for one? or is this something a dm has to do on his or her own time table (when they deside to contact me in game?)

I like RP but have trouble some times remembering what words to use in english, so that some times kinda takes the fun out of the whole thing,
i do hope you PC:s out there have a good tolerance for those who dont have perfect english skills (because i'm from a nordic country. [although i have studiet advanced english up to mechanical tech])

thats about it, just have to see what kind of char i'm going to start using, and make a good story line for it, but hope to meet you all soon in the game and have great RP moments and loads of fun

We have a lot of players and staff from all over the world, so you're in welcome company.

Unfortunately, DM's don't take quest solicitations or solicitations for custom items.

We DO reward for good roleplaying and style. We have a lot of variety in terms of equipment already in game, you may actually find the time of equipment you seek during your normal adventures.

Feel free to ask other players in game and keep an eye out on the tradeboards for items for sale.

Also, feel free to read the world information at your leasure and as an ongoing reference. You don't have to stress out about reading it... it's for your enrichment.

Good luck, and have fun.

I'm English, always lived in England and from English Stock through and through and I quite often have trouble figuring out what to say (type) and even when I do my fingers don't always seem to get the message. So I wouldn't worry too much about it!
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Yeah, they keep telling us how great we are all the time for trying so hard and actually playing in a foreign language so don't worry
Think about it yourself - if someone writes something a bit weird do you get irritated or amused?
I know how I react :D
Which Nordic country if I might ask?

And welcome, hope to see you in game.

Don't worry about the english language problem, some people speak elvish which is hard enough to understand as it is :)

If you are looking to obtain this item for your char, I recommend looking around the traders for a +1 Full Plate with dim red light, which shouldn't be differcult to obtain. Once you get the item you can then use red dye which will work on any item afaik. The dye can be purchased from NPC/PC traders. Hope this helps.

1. oooh jeah, Rindell may i ask what are you going to play here and at what time? i havent started yet with a real char, been thinking about a good char history and disciption because i only intend to make 1 char, so i dont want to mess it up.

2. to answer wich nordic country i'm from...it would be Finland *salutes*

3.yeah i know about the dyi colors and the trade system, i was only thinking about the DM quests, some servers give items for a good RP quest run by a DM, but i mostly just ask for something with a personal touch to suite my char a little better (instead of "hmm can i have a +30 great sword with 50d100 fire damage?") i like the idea of questing for a more "Personal item/items" to make your charracter more, ehh..well like your char ,not the other guy, if you know what i mean.

When I started playing here about 9 months ago my English was so poor that I still wonder why I did not give up after a few days. Nah.. It's not true... I don't wonder anymore. People here rock ! :D So don't worry Jekyl your English is way better than mine and you won't have any problems in Avlis.

Btw.. Welcome to Avlis ! I am looking forward to roleplaying with you. :D

P.S.: I thank all of you who have had enough patience roleplaying with me and have helped me improve my English as well as my roleplaying skills *bows deeply*. You know who you are and I love you all ! *group hug* :D

Wow, I never thought of online gaming as a tool for learning language!

Maybe I should go onto a French or Spanish server and bone up!

Any suggestions?

I havn't been accepted yet, so hopefully sometime soon, and then it'd be mostly 5pm-11pm usually (-7 GMT) when I feel like it, or if I decide I like this place.

What character though? I really enjoyed the Druid on Dasaria (got him to 20 last night). And I might do a Cleric. I've never been a Cleric yet in the history of my DnD gaming (just like a Druid, before I made him on Dasaria).

Interesting. Maybe we should make a Elvish to French reference, Elvish to German reference... etc...
